There is a nice calm zen state of going outside and spending 10-15 minutes weeding every day. it's not a war I think I can win, it's just nice to be outside for a bit and take a break from kids/work and think. Easy-peasy. Some people may be over zealous about perfection but whatever makes them happy doesn't bother me. I also love Japanese Gardens so - I get it.

Back on track - I picked up the Ego mower last year when my gas finally kicked the bucket, it lived through multiple carb rebuilds and replacement blades but the chassis was starting to go. I'd had a midrange Ego blower for a couple of years, so I stuck with that for battery compatibility. Unfortunately when I took it out of the garage this spring, the battery was DOA. Ego warrantied it and sent me a new one within two weeks. Oddly enough, a couple of months after I got it back the Ego blower shit the bed (battery is fine), but Ego warrantied the repair at a local shop. I've had it for 3 years, so pleased it was still under the original warranty. So far I've liked the products but had mixed luck. Their customer service has been solid, FWIW. Make sure you keep your receipts.
^^fwiw i heard to bring the batteries into the house for the winter.....they do not like cold temps/sheds - if that was the case here.

My portable air compressor shit the bed. I've watched the Project Farm videos. I like the idea of detachable batteries. Have Makita 18v and Milwaukee 12v batteries but leaning Milwaukee 18v because the compressor seems better. Thoughts?
I have a four-year-old Milwaukee Fuel wack weeder with the 9 amp battery.
It stays in the uninsulated, unheated shed year-round.
Been at least two (2) years since last charged, likely longer.
Today, the built-in battery checker shows four (4) bars. Full charge.
And, yes, it works fine.
Very impressed with this battery technology.
If only women were this stable...
Same here, I have the 40V string trimmer (pairs up perfectly with my old expandit attachments like pole saw), picked up that 190 mph blower, and also the 18” chain saw. I’m not 100% decoupled from my old 2-strokes (except the string trimmer) but Really happy with all of them, and now also have the 300W inverter battery pack that gives me a decent power supply with 3 x 4AH and 1 x 5AH battery. It’s been useful for camp power, out at the lake, or just in random spots where it’s just as easy or easier to use the inverter vs. pulling out 100’ of extension cord.
I’ve mostly used 18V for handheld power tools (Milwaukee) , drills, etc, but these 40V yard tools are legit and as capable as the 2 strokes. Will obviously see how true that is in 3, 5, 10, 15 yrs, but for now the convenience factor works for me, plus my 2 Strokes could never live a double life as a weed whacker one day and a portable generator the next.
I have the Milwaukee M18 drill, impact driver, circular saw, reciprocating sawzall (it’s not a full length but like a one handed mini saw). No experience with the compressor but I’m intrigued now. I’ve had this set for maybe 6ish years and batteries are still good and no issues with tools. Seems like Milwaukee has a nearly endless quiver of 18V compatible tools to round out a workshop.Quote:

The brushless impact driver has taken a licking and keeps on going. Easily over 10k “drives” at this point. The non-brushless kit is meh, but it was cheap, came with 2 2.0 batteries and charger. It’s a good back-up.
I’m want the M18 mower and leaf blower but I just don’t have enough grass or area to justify the spend over my current electric mower and blower.
