CHarles DeGaul is my favorite airport followed by Keflavik. Both had insanely easy security processes, simple customs, nice facilities.
Detroit is like a prison. I had an 8 hour overnight layover and I swear I sat on a metal folding chair in a blank hallway terminal with no restaurants or coffee shops.
Isn't Cleveland about the same after Continental was no longer a hub?Quote:

Yea PGH is depressing now. The 90’s it was bumping after the remodel.
Flew there couple months ago and 70-80% of the shops and restaurants are still closed and don’t look like they will recover.
McDonalds, RiteAide, and TGI Friday’s are holding on just fine.
As long as Alaska Airlines keeps that direct flight from Seattle I’m happy (it may be on borrowed time though [emoji22])

As far as the Delta lounges though, I think the one in the domestic concourse (E?), is the busiest one in the system. I was there a few weeks ago and it looked like one of those triage scenes from a Civil War movie. Turned around and walked out.

As much as certain things in FRA suck, there are some conveniences. The ICE station makes getting places easy. So easy that I prefer it to changing planes to get to the Stuttgart area if I can go direct to FRA. With the bonus of being able to take a train to my sister's house instead of having to get picked up. And the Hilton Garden on top of the iCE station is the sweet spot between price and convenience. It is a short walk to flight check-in and just a simple escalator ride to ICE trains. There are cheaper rooms off-site, but getting to and from them can really suck if a few hundred people want to do the same thing at the same time as I have experienced.

Aesthetics and former glory aside, getting in and out of CVG tends to go quite smoothly. With no checked bags, it's usually <10 minutes from curb to gate or vice versa. It's never crowded and there's plenty ofroom to sit somewhere quiet not far from your gate. And the current installation of mammoth and saber toothed tiger skeletons on the Delta concourse are really cool.Quote:

Not long ago, but pre covid, I flew to an airport that literally funneled you through the duty free store. Not through the area with stores, but through the actual store. The crowd had to divide to get around the the maze of displays blocking the flow of people. I can't remember what airport it was, maybe Mexico City, definitely international.Quote:

Philly and Dulles (who the fuck still has a bus between terminals?) blow hard.
San Diego is clean, modern, modest in size and has good coffee, is right next to everything
Internationally, Pearson is pretty decent albeit a ton of walking (like most internationals I suppose). Lounges at Heathrow are good. Lounges at Frankfurt a better. Montreal airport is pretty cool.
puerto vallarta airport you hit the 2 rooms of time-share sales desks just after immigration, just nod/ act interested while they pour you a complimentary shot of mezcal, I did another quick sales pitch for another shot and if you play it right you could probably get a third shot for the bus ride to Sayulita
Belize City, short sweet and tropical. What’s not to love.
