Jeffreys is rediculously far offshore, when taken into account that there is an inshore buoy right off of York, that also isn't sitting right on top of a underwater mountain.

checked jeffreys early. showed up at the wall to find waist/chest w shoulder high sets and perfect. maybe 6 guys out spread out over 1.5 miles of beach.

the lost blunt was the perfect tool this morning. lefts/rights with no closeouts. unreal.

You guys are funny. This stoke thread has turned into a flame thread. I don't know, but it sounds like rog is making the most of what little surf you tend to get in NE. Not a bash. I surfed there for over a decade. I was back for two weeks this summer, during the biggest part of your surf drought, and I got out four times in waist high surf. Used a long board every time, but I got out. And it was a bonus to surf with old friends. Since then, it seems like the surf has really improved. At times, you were getting much better swell than we were out here. If you are not getting in, because it is not good enough for you, who cares? Go hit the mountain bike.

In other news. It is almost fall. Hope you guys get some more waves.

And some one please post up some stoke from the last few canes,

basically if jeffreys buoy is reading anything over 2.5 ft @more than 8 second period with a swell angle of less than 140 degrees, my short board is getting ridden at the most exposed breaks, which is usually the wall to get the most size and power.

this morning was like 3.3 ft@ 12 seconds with 130ish degree. PLENTY shortboardable. didn't last long tho as friends of mine found out by showing up as i was getting done with a really fun 2 hours. twas down to thigh high sets at that time.

30 weeks of waist high or better is now in the books. ralph will have pics and accounts of it up on his blog by morning.

can't wait for my new board arriving next week!

5'9"x19.5"x2.38" placebo rocket with futures. rode one 2 weeks ago on a thigh/waist high day. unreal performance in gutless. can't wait to get it in chest/overhead surf. amazing how much better small boards fit into wave faces. direction changes and increase in down the line speed is truly retarded.

According to the Jeffre's buoy the largest the swell during useable daylight was 2.0 feet at 12.5 seconds. but Ok.

But hey, back to the stoke.
Grabbed a sweet shot of the waist to chest sets, with shoulder high on the plus.
And man, was it nice to only have 6 people out!

things are def quieting down fer sure. i just wish these fun swells would only hit mid week.

i couldn't believe the lack of folks out this morning. even guys i know that paddled out in the second hour had trouble believing that it was twice the size while they were still having coffee at home. we'll see what ralph posts up tomorrow.

breakwater, i assure you it was bigger than 2 foot and even 3 during daylight hours. sorry you missed it. it'll be back mon-wed, so get on it!

oh, scroll down the cdip page and you can see that even at 7am, over an hour after 1st light, it was in fact over 3 feet, just sayin:)

ralph and brian were surfing a couple hundred yards south by themselves. my buddy shaun is the paddleboarder in the pic and i'm paddling out in front of him. he missed the best surf earlier on, but still scored some nice ones.

today was fun too!

EDIT TO ADD: sorry for the name calling. i was just peaved that someone who obviously maybe hasn't been getting after it when the gettin has actually been quite good (since march), would question someone who is/was actually there and getting the goods pretty much daily. all i'm doing is trying to spread some EC stoke.

not much to report from today, well at least for all of the "bro brahs" out there. today was so special in it's own right.

driving down the coast this morning had me looking for hints or any clues of where i might find some fun/rideable surf. the shortboard would be out of the question, but i had the log for safe measure. driving south i noticed some VERY small (knee) waves at the most exposed beaches with a few folks out. as i was driving by one particular point, i was curious to see if the swells had enough energy to hit the shelf and give just a little bit more than what the beaches were offering. well, it's always log-able i thought, so i suited up and paddled out.

for 2 hours i had the place to myself and caught no less than 30-40 perfect little thigh high 50-75 yard lefts. i made sure to just sit and catch nothing if any other surfers pulled up to have a look. worse thing you can do to crowd a peak is to make it look good. especially when dealing with our neighbors to the north. they'll pull up in a honda civic packed to the gills with 4-6 dudes and boards stacked precariously high on the roof. they do bring some hot chicas tho:)

supah fun session. tomorrow the surf builds. took tuesday off to catch it at it's peak.

hope others get out and take advantage, winter what?

today was unreal. head and a half making a very regular appearance at the rocks. 2/2 hour sessions. amazing what the blunt can handle, well.

I'd keep talking smack about your overblown reports, but I have no desire to blur the line between myself and Ralph, which is who'se material you've chosen as your pictures.

ROR was rad at low tide today. The Wall; not so much.

Sure, Rog is probably overblown by a foot or two, but they felt that tall, with some nice, loooong, clean, lefts. on a couple big drops I Definitely found the limit of my 5'9" fish:biggrin:

what time were you out? the early afternoon incoming was definitely a bit bigger and better lined up than the morning fer sure. soooo glad to have had the thruster option on the blunt. ya musta had a few speed wobbles on that fish:)

What's the fins like on the fish? I have a Twin-keel that you wouldn't think would hold on the bigger days, but the fat keels just suction into the wave face.
Problem is getting under the wave.

Rog, rode ROR from about 10:30 till 2:30. I'm a goofy so I love those ROR lefts!

Breakwater, I've got the twin keels in but have the option for quad, but I love how you can really push around the twins.

^I'd love to surf ROR again. Surfed it once a long time ago, I can imagine that place can get insane on a big swell. Goofy foot here as you can tell

i did 7-9am, then 130-330pm, so we musta been at close range. i'm a regular footer and adore the rocks lefts! the rights are great too, but the lefts yesterday were just so good! what color board were you on?

Durr.

I read that wrong this morning.
It wouldn't be the fins limiting you there. That drop can be a bitch on a flat-rocker board.
But if you can make the drop on a fish at Rye, when the wave sets up there's nothing better than the fish projection.



Anyways.. Don't underestimate a high-volume fish with big keels on a big day was my thought process.

nh today was nothing special. the rocks was pretty clean tho with just 2 then 4 of us out and waist high, some bigger.

then surfed the pipe which was double the size and it was shifty and weird, but kinda fun on the drops. some folks tried to get out, but couldn't and others were getting pushed all of the way down to the beach club. getting out on the new 5'9" was redonkulously easy and riding it thruster was fun. just my bud tom and me out.

tomorrow should be fun, tuesday maybe better, winds willing.

good workout today at least.
