Yeah, I feel that. Highest HR I ever recorded was Nordic skiing back in the 90’s. 202bpm is a weird place to be!
Went back for more today.

That is so tasty! Looks underused too.
Really quiet on this part of the network. Love learning a new area. They do a good job, trails are interesting with good flow.

What can folks recommend for me about base structure tools? Now that I'm in the slush season the constant feeling of pitching over the bars is a bit absurd.
A nice stone grind is also on the to do list but I'm a little leery of doing that now then thrashing my edges on the morning ice.
A course wire brush dragged from tip to tail a time or three makes the moisture not suck as much. Repeat as needed.
You are looking for a rilling tool:

Keeps getting better every time out, skis are right under me now, strong push-offs are becoming natural. Fast long glide V2 on the flats is making me smile. I forgot how much I love Nordic, last time I was really into it, I came into bike season strong. Hoping for that again this spring. I purchased a late season pass at Woodstock Nordic, whoop-whoop.

Did this 40 K Saturday.
Johnb, take your skis to Mark at ultratune.
Killing it here buttah and plug.
Just spent a month in the alps and learned skate skiing on the days when being above tree line on the AT gear didn’t make sense. Pretty fun sport, the speed makes it interesting, and the endorphin high from the workout is solid. I had a good setup there (Rossi xium s2 192 cm, decent carbon boots) and now I’m back in the US shopping for the same or similar ‘entry level race ski’ & shit is expensive! Help a newb out if you see any good deals out there on skis for a 190 lb guy.
Nice Plug! I bought a structure tool from Eric and that has seemed to help and will get the skis into Mark at the end of the season or beginning of next. Skied Winthrop to Mazama today with plans on the return trip but didn't hit decent groom until the suspension bridge so bailed on the return trip.
Cold and beautiful morning in Woodstock VT, chasing a riding buddy around. His form needs tuning but he’s got a big engine, he’s relentless.

took a break from "firm piste" and
toured a chain of small lakes on the county line.
busted out the map and compass to navigate,
kindled a few fires, dug a few pits
the snow was excellent and the ice is thick

From a few weeks ago - skate ski out/back on Glacier Point Road, 21 mile round trip. Had the track to ourselves after the first couple of miles (aside from a couple of sno-cats that cruised through hauling propane tanks). Truly epic.

This pitch at the turnaround point is no joke (ETA: Jokes on me because I can't unsideways it...):

As nice as 3" of new is to see after around 40 days of no precipitation, the nordic skiing has been awesome up here all season. The huge dumps in Dec and long string of overnight lows plus great groomers that know how to manage it all have made for some fast tracks.
The "hut" is currently closed but looks pretty nice. Note that grooming is mostly on the weekends, we went on a Friday and the conditions were pretty variable (refrozen ruts from the aforementioned sno-cats).

Good stuff!
Morning ski with another riding buddy. Fast snow and skis today. Day 6 of my Nordic return and I’m loving it.

Color me intrigued. Supposed to go nordic skiing with a lady in a couple weeks. I don't nordic ski. She knows this. Might be fun to be shitty at something. She does classic and skate (goes both ways?). I'm leaning towards skate.
Anyone have skate skis they want to sell? I'm 170 pounds.
Grooming my own Nordic center….nobody around. About 50k of potential. Groomed about 20k tonight. First pass, needs repeat after it sets up.
