Great shots, Norseman! That’s a scenic loop for sure. The Dearborn is a favorite float; N Fork Flathead is the other. We canoe and, horror of horrors, don’t fish and can cover some river miles in a hurry. Never been on the Smith; always seem to forget to apply for the permit…someday.

Love that kind of water. Grew up doing summer canoe trips with my dad on the Delaware river (actually very scenic) and have been trying to get him to do a trip out west for 20+ years. I think he's too old now unfortunately.Quote:

in AK when we flew with them they were always in latched ammo cans
someone triggered one in a float plane out in the world somewheres - hilarity ensued
so they started using ammo cans

Whenever we flew in for hunting trips when I lived in AK we had guns, unloaded, no boom boom surprises of bear spray at altitude. But we were never that high anyway.
We accidentally washed and dried a bear spray last summer. Fucked up some clothes. I figured it out while 20 minutes into 90 minute hot yoga and the towel I was laying on turned to lava lol. That was, uh, interesting.
Then Superior and I were on a long MTB ride a week later and 6 or 7 miles in my chamois turned to lava. Good times.
Been asked a million times: Is there anywhere less than 10 to 12 hours away to get some nice warm weather and hiking in? Can't ride bikes. Haven't really been on vacation in quite some time. Busy as fuck. GF has a 5 day window before she starts a new job. My go to is always S. UT. this time of year. Somewhere else???

Front Range of Colorado is actually a pretty decent place right now - moderated temps, wildflowers in the foothills starting to pop, lots of trails. Just don't plan to hike on the weekend. Or after work hours.Quote:
