I attribute poor form to the lack of understanding that 'dropping the knee' is a function of pressuring the trailing ski to target 50/50 weight, with center of gravity between your feet to get both skis to arc as one. I think many simply think 'drop the knee'.

Back in the day, I was usually assigned to alpine skiers converting to tele. They typically had the hardest time getting used to pressuring both skis vs one and feathering lead changes.

Additionally, I was taught that just use the right turn for the current condition. Sometimes 'para-marking', was the call.

I never did try active NTN bindings so I'm not sure how that affects the above thinking with active cable or even 3 pin only.

I am getting the hang of it.
I think.
Sometimes I think about squatting on my uphill heel. Trying to touch my butt to my heel. That weights that ski more. I don't actually get to that position but I think about it.
But doesn't get the knee to ski which I don't think I can even do.
Does that sound right? It feels good like I'm swooping if I do that and lean into a turn and doing a deep curtsy.
Ntn if it matters.

Some people seem to think telemark is a lunge when it’s really more of a split legged squat.

There’s a guy at my hill that has been telemarking for years and it’s really painful watching him. His lead ski is always stemmed out with his ankle open and his rear leg is dragging behind with his shin nearly parallel to the snow, knees widely separated front to back and no real edge control of the trailing ski. I know the guy and he thinks that it’s the perfect tele form.

Sounds like you are getting the hang of it. That butt to heel push is your e-brake as well if you need to dump speed fast and with that uphill ski weighted more you can drift/feather your down hill ski as needed to scrub speed.

Urmas is about as good an example of good stance, etc., as you might find. Not brand new but still the best, IMO.

Try pushing down on the ball of your foot and little toe of your trailing ski to pressure and bend it. Try for 50:50, but really 60:40 or so…..The upper body stays neutral.

Someone in the local Buy Nothing FB group was giving away 2 pairs of 75mm tele boots. Nobody wanted them so I grabbed them from her knowing I could find them homes.

One pair of T2s that she said fits a men's 11 and one pair of T1s that she said fits a men's 12. I will investigate when I have a moment to look at them (to look at condition and to look at mondo sizes). The T2s seems to have an Intuition liner but I know nothing about the liners on either boot.

Shipping plus a sixer for my troubles. Established mags only, no 3 post jong saying "I'll take them!"

geez, what is Scarpa's aversion to putting the fucking mondo size on the shell?

I pulled the liner on the T2 (liner is Intuition Pro Tour with markings of "M 8 / 9" on the tongue and "9 / 27" on the ankle). Markings on the back of the shell say 8/9.

T1s say 9/10 on the back of the shell and the liner (looks like original) say mondo 28.5

I'm going to leave them only here for a few days before I hit the larger FB world.

I've also got some targas that I'd send out for shipping cost if someone is trying to get into tele. One of the pairs has the free pivot (Targa Ascent)

Peeps should be aware that the old plastic heel throws will eventually shatter. I had three heel throws on three different skis shatter during the same season - bd and Gthrees.

On older scarpa boots, the size numbers inside the clog are UK sizing and not US sizing.

Any recommendations for free heel ski and boot rentals besides Mammoth Mountaineering in Mammoth Lakes CA?

The Backcountry in Truckee rents NTN gear.

Damn apostrophes!! Should have written, "...rentals, besides Mammoth Mountaineering, in Mammoth Lakes?".

T2s are now spoken for, still have the T1s (28.5 as near as I can tell).

I will put them up on FB next week and they will surely go quick, so if you want them speak up before then.

Danno, you're a good egg for rescuing these. I would take the T1's off your hands. However, I live in AZ and there is not enough snow yet to use them, so if some other mag can use them before me, I would yield.

As far as I know they’re the only game in town. Rented from them last year when United lost my skis.

What’s the chance those fit a size 10? 28.5 mondo, Dano’s T1s would be a nicer upgrade than my old bumble bee t1s. I’ve been looking for a a pair of t3s on a dirtbag budget for awhile.
