You gotta stay with them, they aren’t a lazy ski, but also not demanding. They tell you when you’re in bad form and give you a chance to get it back. I told 2funky they are “intuitive but need input”.

Immaculate build quality out of the box. Will write more next month in the FR110 thread once I get them on my feet. Flex feels 8/10.

This was supposed to slot between my M102 and my Ren. But after ordering it, I sold my M102 because I didn’t see skiing it again. It was a great groomer ski, but there are better groomer skis. And the M102 tail didn’t release as well as I had hoped. This R110 tail looks exactly like what I was envisioning

I’ll let you know how well that decision plays out. I’m confident after unboxing this glorious build.

Oh, and I can lay it flat on my hardwood floor and spin it like a top... it rotates around the mount point.

FR110 for day 1 of the season.

Couple of decent gouges but so worth it.

I really appreciate you taking the time to share your direct comparative experience, Sylvan.

Those ZF116 sound a bit softer with a more playful sidecut than the FL113.
Love the FL113 ride when the viz is good!
But am I glad to hear that they both have a slot in the quiver?, Aahhh!

-SkiDonkey’s R110, HB and R105 for me

SE116 killed it today in shin deep heavy chopped up pow over hard. And didn’t try to actively kill you back to the lift. Got one run in, need to wax my pair so swapped skis, but they are rad. Super intuitive ski.

First day on SE116 —
Conditions: 12-14” of right side up snow in the last 24h with an additional 5-6” the night before. Snow had insane energy, as you pushed into the column you got sooo much return.

Uncut: Instant smile inducing effect; jumped into a run that was untouched. Pointed them down the fall line, slashed the tails, they released effortlessly. Early season so all the micro terrain features were in full effect. Got up to speed, popped off a roller, landed on the backside. Eased into the "bottomless" pow, skies came up to the surface and generated speed quickly as I traced through the run out. No plow. These GO!

Cut up: as things got cut up these skis came ALIVE!! Turned the entire hill into a full fledged video game. Vividly remember a run down quicksilver. Early afternoon. Full on chopped pow. Pointed them fall line at the start. Drifted/Slarved the tails to line up a slot that had been skier compacted into a little booter. Let them run, instantly at speed. Pushed into the lip and released the skis, launched 25ft down the hill over 3-4 bumps. Landed into a triangle of pow, explosion, transitioned through the soft to the cut up with supreme ease. Very balanced. Since the pow was chopped, and I was mach-ing gave the boots some shin pressure, moving pressure from balls of the feet. Squatted down, skis didn’t quiver, ate up bumps/chop with ease. Very composed. Set them straight and chased down my buddy Austin through the rollers, pre-hopped the rollers and landed 10-20 feet out into chop, smashed the soft bumps no deflection. Skied to a stop, smiled, Fkna, skied on.

Groom: gotta say, on groomers/cord these are not very inspirational. Gotta get them up to speed and then when you tip them they will arc a turn, other wise I was much more happier slarving through the cord. As the cord got chopped up into piles of snow, things got fun again. I think also I figured out how to ski a reverse on firm... that is a new experience for me.

Crust: found some refrozen crust on lower southern aspect, these things were sensational, skied whatever speed I wanted, tails easily broke loose, could drift any size turns through the crust.

Tune: A+++ Damn MO solid work.

My guess is the ZF picks up a bit more groomer and hate fuck performance at the sacrifice of looser "vibes" in dense/crust. IDK. SE116 is the ski I wanted. Truly a playful skier's billygoat... that can punch through shit when needed!

I haven't been paying attention here. Sounds like the ZF is the 2015 191 BG replacement we've all been waiting for? Is that what I'm hearing?

So it sounds like the ZF or SE have now killed both the Billy Goat AND the Bibby/Wildcat? If so = I need. My last pair of Bibby's has pretty much died completely to death.

The only 116 now on the website is the “FL 116.” But it sounds like a ZF (stiffer) and an SE (less stiff) were pressed for this season. Is the FL the ZF? Or???

FL = SE I believe. The ZF has camber from what I am gathering.

Marshal pressed two variations. The first ones came out flat under foot with long low rocker, round 8 flex. The second press is a 9 flex with about 1.5mm camber with long low rocker. They are considered FL116 and hoping MO will have both flex/profiles available for pre order for next year. Other than that the tapers and general shape is the same. SE is more jibby playful where the ZF is more geared towards getting down the fall line quickly while retaining a playful nature in a more mean attitude. Honestly a guy could have both in the quiver as they compliment each other well.

Had the FL116(SE) out yesterday in that same shin deep pow described above and this is hands down the best resort pow ski I’ve had. Going to replace my Billy Goats and honestly I don’t know if I’ll even try the Revolt 114 I got this summer. It doesn’t float as well as some of the 120+ pow skis, but is hands down the best resort pow ski I’ve been on. Trees, steeps, bumps, groomers, cut up pow, untracked, etc. are so much fun on this ski.

I was worried if the SE would be stiff enough and was kinda wishing I had the ZF. But after skiing it in pow the SE flex is perfect for that. I was still able to charge through cut up pow and never once wished it was stiffer.

I also ended up mounting at -9.5 due to existing hole conflicts. It ended up still being fairly directional but effortless to pivot and turn even in chopped up 3D snow.

I thought I’d share Marshals thoughts on mount points for this ski he sent over email:

FWIW, i love the FL105 at -11 skied the proto 116 at -11.5, -10.5, -9.5 last year, and am going to test my personal pair at -8.5 this season for science.

So I would say the "standard" mount position will be comparably directional to the FL105 at -11. My suggestion is that you go forward 1cm. It will still definitely be more charged than your FR110 but have a slightly surfier ride than the FL105. Going back 1 cm is going to make them ski like a FL113 at -12cm. Very "straight down the fall line" of a ride.

Going forward, I will kill the “FL” name and just call it SE (Slash Edition) and ZF. Will update the website this evening to that effect. Sorry for the confusion. I was overthinking it.

SE = 8 of 10 flex ~2450g and very subtle flat/reverse
ZF = 9 of 10 flex ~2600g and small camber pocket

They will each get their own webpage to that affect too
