Paid my entry fee , ended up being $550 all said and done. Should be fun enough. Quite the international mix of names in the roster.
Gotta train for the long haul , starting off with local Turkey Trot race 5k this am , 10 degrees.
Then off to Kona next week , doing a 5k therein dec 15.
I been battling sore heels with plantar fasciitis issues. Seemed to remedy with copious amounts of THC salve and sit with feet in front of heater. And running with toes curled up seems to help.
Standing invite for any of you yahoos to come check out big island. Ill have a nice tent platform and compost toilet set up for ya...

Try strenghtening you calf muscles- Power walking (up) stairs or steep hills.
-
^^ it all started getting bad when all I was doing was running up hill every day. Could barely walk in the morning , or after driving for an hour. Running flats is definitely different, been working on calf stretch though
But this THC salve is amazing
-
huh. That's interesting. My plantar issues disapeared completely once my lower legs became stronger.

I ran my first 40 mile week last ,all at temps between -5 f and 12f. Did a local 5 k fun run on thanksgiving in the am. It was like 8 deg that day, smoked the field of women and children and dads pushing chariots with 20:15. Lol
I guess not bad with all the layers and slippery conditions

I have my first ever run related injury, just an irritated hip from running down a steep hill, but sucks none the less. Taking a couple weeks off to quiet it down. I went easy on the hill, but it was the only thing different from my usual runs, which normally involve a lot of down hill, some pretty steep, just not this steep.

This blocking high pressure is shitty for ski season but it sure has made it a nice fall for running. Light breezes, puffy white clouds, temps in the low 50s today. Just too nice not to get out!
How's the hip, Hutash? With all you've got going on right now I bet you could use a nice cruiser run to help get your mind right...

Running, Anyone...?
I needed extra will power to get out to run 9 miles in snow covered Central Park.
But once I got out, the air was crisp and the view was breathtaking.
Glad I got to run today.

Nice! Wish we had snow. It's been cold here with the high pressure, but the inversion finally moved out. Managed to get 7 miles in this morning. It was about 20 when I headed out, but with no wind and lots of sun, felt much warmer.
-
It was 30’s here today.
20’s a whole different ballpark!
Way to put 7 miles!!
-
Just did this kona 5k with over 700 ppl. I got 7th over all with 18:32 and 1st in 35-39 age group! I must be doing something right, trying to strike balance between crushing vert for horsepower and running flats for long stride...
-
Can't run here, the air quality is unbelievably bad...and I grew up in LA in the 60's and 70's when air was seriously bad.
Just thought I'd mention I lost 4 pair of brand new Hoka's in our little house warming. I was just about to toss a couple pair...saved in the trouble I guess. Fortunately they were from the outlet.

Got an hour and a half in along the Platte this afternoon. What a fantastic day to be out banging along the trails! What with suffering through the whole family getting the flu, it had been more than 2 weeks since I had time for a run. Sure was nice to get out there today.

Really nice morning for a run yesterday. I'm not sure cuz I'm not a caltopo savant but I think I can see Pikes and Longs from jackass hill.

Got a fantastic hour in along the Platte this afternoon! Mid 60s with a gentle breeze and some big wave clouds. Perfect running conditions.
While I was cruising along the fisherman's trail through the woods a bald eagle flew like 20y ahead of me across the trail and landed in a tree at the edge of a clearing. Good stuff!

Nice! It was a bit windy yesterday, so I decided to do some hill repeats. I am horrible with hills/climbs. Anyways, had this gang for company.

Running, Anyone...?
Still no running for another couple months.
At least no longer have hip replacement scare.
You guys have fun running. :(

Yeah repetitive use injuries suck. I finally got my heels to feel better by toning down on my 'all hills , all the time' approach. Switched gears to the flats more and doubled down on the bike.
Feel good, ran my first 10k in 20 years a couple days ago got 2nd with 38:30.
18:30 at 5k then long slow hill back to finish, grueling.
I just signed up for this Kohala half ironman here June 2. Gonna focus on quality workouts ie hard instead of long garbage miles. I can do 4000 yards in pool and have done 2000 in open water. Swimming my weakness. Sorry to cross reference running thread, it is all related in my head lol
Anyone want to sign up you can stay at my place .
