Was that a solo FLIPS show?
Only gigs they are playing near me have them opening for Weezer, so guessing it wouldn’t be the full Flaming Lips extravaganza.
Also, I’m not a huge Weezer fan…:D

Monkeys on Ecstasy at Cervantes. Tiny spot, but super cool. Hawk you in the room?

Perhaps the best venue ever! Some where in the switz alps. Love this band!
I wasn't a big fan off them early on, I was a little put off by their use of a kick drum in bluegrass-esqe style playing. I do like the new album though. Got some friends from New Zealand visiting next week that are TDS superfans, so we are going to go see them at Deer Valley on Saturday.

About 1/3 old stuff (Rogue River, Have a Cigar, Drop, Petals) and the remainder all new stuff - not even on Spotify.
New stuff has heavy Celtic influence, kinda symphonic with multiple movements and very trippy (or maybe it was the shrooms). Still amazing musicians, especially Charlie Rose ( Banjo, mandolin, cello, pedal steel). It’s always fun to listen to the sounds within the sounds and figure out where it’s coming from.
I like Daniel Sproul’s guitar better than Rodriguez’. The vocals center on Bonnie now.
I score it a 9.2/10
Nice

At JRAD tonight.
Some crappy pics from WEEN at kettlehouse 2nite. Fun show. I like their harder rock stuff more but seemed more of a WSP or Dead crowd. I'm always reminded of how varied their catalogue is. Live music is the shit.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...b7477766bb.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...ce4a0b5876.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...6d64ec65d6.jpg

"The next time you see me I'll be twice as good."
I have a recording I made from Telluride Bluegrass this year of CC if any mags want it. I think I pretty sure even have the KOTO interview. PM me. I'll get you a link, seriously. I can't just throw that shit up on the archive. What a talent though!
Yeah, I see a shitton of music. At least 3 shows a week. You do the math. Keeps me sane. And it's nice to be a taper again after a long hiatus since the early 90's and to give back. I've probably taped about 60 bands since May. There are sbd's of entire festivals I haven't even put up.
I gave 1/4 of my old tapes to an old ex, the rest my mom threw away along with my coin and stamp collections and my dad's Leica M and Nikon F and all the lenses when she went cray before she died and I couldn't rescue it all because that never really occurred to me that someone would do that. Lesson learned. Cancer is a bitch.
PM's with link sent.
Dayam!!!
I probably only average 3 live music shows a year!
I do have some non-skiing compadres who average between 5-7 shows a week, but they all live in metropolitan areas (and sometimes they will average 3-5 shows a night!).
Good on you, man!
Have you seen this study?
(Granted, it was commissioned by a concert venue, but still…):

Check these guys out, the Floodgate Operators out of CB. Was so great to meet them tonight, they have roots here, and to record them. It came out really well.
Cheers, https://archive.org/details/floodgat...tors2024-08-08
I did a matrix recording with mics on stage added to the sbd feed. It sounds minty and they are so good. You will hear about them.
Thanks, Cross. I grew up coveting shitty tapes of bands. I couldn't afford to go to shows. Then I started getting on mail tape trees and also taping bands myself such as Phish and DMB back in the very early 90's. I got distracted with life and now I get to pick up again where I left off with much better tech and access. I'm actually an adult now and can just reach out to bands, tour managers, etc. My main side gig is photography and I've shot a lot of bands but I hate it and refuse to do it. So now I keep my camera for what I want to do and I go to the shows I want to hear and also bring my rig and show up early, reach out to bands/management before hand, even a few minutes, and roll. I can't tell you how immensely gratifying it is to hear a show that I recorded that sounds so much better than being in a seat or a lawn and also to be able to share that with the band and their fans. I've had bands try to pay me. Hell no, that goes against everything I believe in. The image above means it all. I think this re-kindling of my old passion will add years to my life and others. It's quite a bit different now, being all digital, I record in 32 bit / 48 , and my mics and even cables are so much better. Lossless can truly mean lossless at this point. I just love hugging people, dancing, and smiling.
It's very true:

These are very old friends of mine, and I aspire to be as well adjusted in my life and relationships as they are. They come out.
Yes, I live very rural and usually the closest real music venue is 3 hours away. I almost exclusively listen to recorded live shows and am very thankful to be able to couch tour.
I’m not sure how it is regarded inside the industry but Nugs.net has been a lifeline for me. About $100/yr subscription and I can often listen to shows within days of their original performance.
Billy Strings, String Cheese, Leftover Salmon, Daniel Donato, JRAD, DSO, Kitchen Dwellers, etc… so many good options every week to keep the music flowing.
I’ll certainly check out your Archive recordings!:jam:
First real concert of the year for us last night. Saw Stightly Stoopid w/ Common Kings at Dillon Amphitheater. We are so lucky to have such a great venue down the street from my house! Can't wait for Primus in a few weeks.
Anyone at targhee? Camped in meadow at the loop split,3 vans in a triangle just behind the portapotties,
