Brenner motorway is a shitshow on the weekends at the moment and to be avoided if possible. If bus, the on a weekday. ÖBB has issued travel warnings and possible delays/cancellations until Thursday. Biggest problem is the flooding, but that is all further east of Innsbruck, esp towards Vienna. Haven't heard of any landslides along the brenner route yet, but might gave missed the info.Quote:

With a 1 1/2 year old daughter, pre season has consisted of buying the Feizeit Ticket and eyeing up some new skis I can't afford! That's all i seem to have time for. I did dust off the rowing machine though, so the intent is there :D

Epic pass is now strong in Europe. Skiing in the Swiss Alps was never this cheap before.
The swiss Franc is strong but they didn’t have a 10% inflation the last couple years. A tall boy 16 ounce pint of good beer is still somewhere around 6 USD.
For the Epic pass holders that don’t have unlimited skiing the additional ski passes are not crazy. For example in Andermatt a days pass is somewhere around 80USD. Some guys book these short 5 days trips cause they think additional days will be like 200-300$ / day. Andermatt even has the 1/2 price deal. Means that when you one buy a so called “1/2 tax Abo” for around 85USD and after that every day pass is half price. Means day passes are 45Usd. Gives great flexibility for guys planning to go skinning up and use the train instead of ski lifts every day…
Accommodation is plenty full from top notch places to cozy mountain lodges like the Basecamp Andermatt for around 70USD / night
Want to put your kids in a ski school?
Just checked that a day in ski school with private instructor in Vail was around 1300USD. Those prices are crazy! In Eco ski school Andermatt its somewhere 400USD-500USD per day for private instructor
If you look for cheap flights, avoid Zürich and Geneva. The best deals are usually flights to Milano. They are a pure summer destination and rental cars in winter are super cheap. 5 $ a day is not uncommon. Downside is that they don’t have often winter tires that might be needed driving up
The passes. Milano to Andermatt is only an hour longer drive that Zurich to Andermatt.

Is there good terrain at Andermatt ? I can ski double Blacks at Aspen Highlands. How much is a decent suite at Basecamp Andermatt? And are Private instructors under 1000 bucks even qualified to teach my kids? I mean we had a cheap Maid once and my kids suffered severely.
