How many rides are you gonna take on Chair 2 before she closes on April 13th?
End of an era.

I have 19 seasons on those damn padded seats. Gonna miss her. Sure was fun riding her today too!
End of a generation, hope the line rules stay the same. Any chance it stays open later?
I'll fondly remember my first time, my last time and a few in between.
Dam fun day.

Fun day skiing with my kid today. Mixed precipitation in the lot. Dumping heavy snow at times. Poor visibility but it lifted around one. Groomers and chop were good. The fresh was 6-8 inches of wet cement.
Haven’t skied alpy this year, just missed out on parking last Sunday which was annoying . Thought if I got there by [emoji[emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]][emoji640][emoji640]]:[emoji639][emoji[emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]][emoji640][emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]]] it would work out . So what time do I need to get there to park tomorrow ?

I hope they eventually got the new lift running. I did 1 run off the top but was trying to get a quick day in so went low hoping I could catch a few laps before calling it a day. When it started snaining all the way up Armstrong and the new lift wasnt even spinning I departed in defeat. Should have just stayed high and done another lap on 2, which would have been infinitely better than the lumbar straining goo down low.
It was running by noon.maybe earlier but I could see it in the fog.
Inbounds sloppy left overs were fun yesterday.

I am wanting to get my kid into group lessons next year. He will be 4 when the season rolls around next year and finally got the hang of actually pizza'ing and frenchfry'ing off the magic carpet a couple weekends ago. Looking at lessons for next year on the summit website it looks like all their lessons are done out of Central, so who does the lessons at West? Any recommendations on programs for a 4yr old that you guys thought worked really well and werent exorbitantly expensive (looking at you Alpental minis coasting $1600 for 6 days of lessons)
It's not at West, but my kids did Webbski. The benefit of Webbski is that they have an all day program that doesn't require that the parents return at lunch. Being free for 5 hours made it worth being based at Central. Webbski is super old school, with a snail mailed paper enrollment form in the fall, but it was pretty affordable compared to some of the other options.
^^^ oof, looks like Webbski starts at 5yr olds. Anyone experience Powderpigs? Not cheap either, but might be a decent option if it comes highly recommended.
We did Powderpigs - worked well for us for a couple seasons, but they might be all booked up for next season.
We did Friday night lessons and then later switched to Sundays. It's not officially their chair, but having the chair right next to their lodge gets them skiing quickly after lessons starts and running laps as beginners. Then they move up to Silver Fir.
If you have any flex with work I preferred Friday nights, but it was rough on me getting off work a touch early and rallying the kiddo up there (I think it was 7-9pm). The drive home at 10 after a full day of work could be brutal. Always kept an energy drink stashed.
Agree about webbski. With Powderpigs it is morning sesh then you have lunch with your kids for an hour then afternoon sesh. So makes it harder to break away
when your kid gets a bit older, give Husky Winter Sports a look. I think their group lessons are 7+ yrs. Run out of UW, volunteer college students who get instructor training. Our kids really enjoyed it and progressed for the few years they took lessons.
Having gone through the training for HWS before realizing I didn't wanna do that, I'll say a good chunk of those kids just want to get a free pass and go get wasted at their cabin for the weekend... I'm sure there are some good ones but I'll opt for another school where you're more likely to get a parent or sibling of the kids or something like that.
Powderpigs is on a lottery now. I didn't get in last year, which was fine because my 4 y.o. just wanted to ski with me anyways but I'll be more insistent on getting him in a class next season, so I appreciate these recommendations too.
I went through training with HWS too. I stayed at the cabin and got really wasted. I didn’t get the job, so they had some standards. Maybe you were there too.
Funny. I think that was 2011 or 2012 for me.
Mid 90’s, they had 2 cabins then.
I wouldnt be mad about that haha. Unfortunately/fortunately my kid is super social (one of those kids that makes friends at every playground, always asking to play, always saying hi, etc) and A) enjoys group settings A LOT, and B) is much more willing to push his phyiscal boundaries when the kid next to him is doing it too (he's competitive and thrives playing with older kids). So, i really think group lessons would be ideal.
I guess we can always sign him up for the Central6 lessons now, and cancel later if we get into the PowderPigs through their raffle.
I got the email today regarding passes going on sale for next winter. The full boat, Alpy Plus Pass will be $859. About a $67 increase. Comes with parking and all the same benefits as last year. You can also add the Ikon base pass for an additional $300 which is a $600 discount. Sweet deal!
I have a camping reservation for Lot 3 this weekend for friday and saturday night. Face value is 80+tax, I'd be interested in sending it to an interested party for 40 via venmo OBO. Big Chair2 party should make a great time. Send me a message if interested.
Anyone score one of the padded seats at the auction last weekend?
were they selling just the pads or didja hafta buy the whole chair too?
Construction of chair 2.1 well under way. Heli-concrete? https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...4a9d977ceb.jpg

Well who scored (un) padded seats today? I entered the raffle, didn't hear anything yet...
Selling the padded seats devoid of pads is real insult to injury
Got a message that I didn’t win the raffle on Thursday.
