I got in early because I loved the concept; bought stock at some point, got nervous, and broke even right before the long slow slide into oblivion. I still have hope that something similar eventually becomes real, ‘cause damn the adventure vehicle and pickup looked cool.Quote:

To save me from driving around with a tape measure who can confirm what evs will fit a 193cm straight pull ski inside with only half of the back seat folded. I have a roof box but it would be nice not to have it on killing my range all winter when it’s mostly me and my son driving to ski in the car.
I’m 99% sure a Tesla y will. Pretty sure the xc40 recharge, ev6 and ioniq 5 won’t. Not sure on the ford Mach e or polestar 2.

Tesla Model Y can do you one better actually. I can just drop the center back seat and fit a 189 asym Billy Goat without needing to angle it or encroaching on the front center console too much. Shockingly good ski EV, very sure footed AWD with good tires, great range and a heat pump so cold doesn't kill it, camp mode if that's your thing, 7" stock clearance and 9"+ is easily done with a few cheap mods.
I'm currently mad-sciencing an internal ski rack so we can do four adults and six skis without breaking out an external ski carrier.

I have the Model 3 and my 191's fit with one seat folded down. For family skiing I use an INNO box as it's low profile. Definitely test ride both the Y and 3, many people hate on the Y, surprisingly they are not similar in how they handle. I'd imagine the 3 is more efficient because it's lower and lighter, and also I think it's slightly faster.
That looks awesome nice setup.
I know the 3 drives way better than the Y but the y fits our life much better so hard to let that be the deciding factor. I think we can fit in the Y for most family trips where that would be hard with the 3. Also the hitch on a 3 hangs super low for a bike rack.
If I found an older 3 for cheap I might go that way otherwise I think I’m going to see when juniper comes out and hopefully pushes used prices down.

Middle “seat” folds down in basically all BMWs, ( and a ski pass through). My Golf has a ski pass through.
If you daily drive EVs range anxiety really stops being a thing. Seattle to Paradise on Rainier is 4.5 hrs round trip and 200~ miles and I have no qualms about doing it in the winter.Quote:

There's a little bit more pre-planning involved when it comes to really long trips, like making certain you have a rest break at the last fast charger before going super rural, but there's not much (in this state at least) that's too remote to do with an EV.
Ground clearance is a different question currently, there's not too many "cheap" EVs that can handle really rough roads but that's hopefully changing relatively soon as the market matures.
Our first gen leaf gives me range anxiety all the time but that because it only goes 50 miles on the highway with the heat on. That said once you learn the car it mostly goes away and a 300 mile range car you can leave a 50 mile buffer.
I can definitely fit 193s in the Ioniq 5 but I do drive pretty close to the wheel. Quite a bit of room left behind the seat, unless you're all the way to the back of the adjustment range you should be fine.

If the snow gets too deep it can catch fire and melt it.
super easy to shit on cybertruck (we've all seen videos of ct's flailing in snow) but we all know it's the rubber that matters.
EV trucks (aside from price) most likely make awesome plow vehicles. Low center of gravity for traction and no transmission == perfect plow vehicle.
