I do most of the cooking in the house. I need a completely clean environment, so I clean all dishes and start with an empty sink. As I cook, I clean up. I use the same bowls as much as possible. I read the recipe, make a plan, and have it all mapped out before I start. I prep all ingredients ahead of time and clean all cutting boards. I wash the dishes and bowls and utensils as I go. When the meal is done, the only dish left to do is usually the pot or pan that the food is in.

My wife does it , shall we say, differently. Also, when she cooks I get to clean up. It is not a fair trade, so I just cook.

Also, when she buys the ingredients for some Pinterest recipe or whatever, she always forgets one or two ingredients. Without fail.

I gave up trying to figure it out.

My wife will wash cups, pots, bowls, etc and then put them into the drying rack. Right-side up. Consistently.

GF will refrain from running DW till absolutely the last sliver of space is filled, load the garbage to overflowing, run the stove until the woodrack is empty

somehow things happen in a cycle where the DW is getting run/ the garbage is being taken out/ the wood rack is being re-filled when i come over so I pointed this out which didnt go over real well

but really its very small potatoes

Mine just randomly puts the dishes in the dishwasher in any location. I constantly have to rearrange plates and bowls and glasses to maximize space (and simplify the unloading process). Drives me crazy. I bet she sucks at Tetris. Also leaves the dishwasher just sitting open for some reason - just close that mf'er!

She went on a trip to visit her boyfriend once and I used this opportunity to fulfill a dream of mine: putting the forks / spoons / knives in their own sections of the cutlery holder thingy in the dishwasher. Then when I unloaded it - BOOM - just grab the whole stack and slam 'em in the drawer. It was one of the best days of my life.

ONLY in the kitchen. It is so odd. Tupperware organization is horrendous, spices just thrown in randomly, nothing in a logical place in either of our 2 fridges (had to have the 36" built in, which doesn't fit shit- thank god for the huge pantry with a full size normal fridge and freezer), shit left in sink, the garbage can- good god!!- it can't ever get full enough- she just keeps adding stuff until I pull the bag, etc. etc.

She is beyond a neat freak in every other room. I can only attribute it to her having never worked in restaurants.

Guys get a bad rap due to our high school and college behavior.

All the gross shit it here my wife does too. Christ, she let her cats walk all over the countertops while she cooked when I first met her, that got squashed quick.

I'm friends with a couple who bought a house that was built for a Orthodox Jewish couple who managed to piss off the builder enough that he broke the contract and sold it to my friends instead. (Apparently the wife side of the couple who was having the house built tried to get a discount on the house because a window that was supposed to be centered on a staircase landing was 1/4" off-center...good to know that Karens transcend religion.)

At any rate, the house has a kosher kitchen, so two stoves, refrigerators, sinks, dishwashers, the whole shebang. Sadly, I don't think they use their two dishwashers as you described, but they do say that it's incredibly useful when hosting Thanksgiving etc.

Ive think Ive said it a few times. I want to a row of fucking dishwashers. I also want a real deal urinal somewhere. And a bathroom that is all tile and waterproof hardware with a drain in the middle so I can literally just stand in the bathroom with a hose and nuke the place, top to bottom. Or throw the kids or dog in there on a macro-wash cycle and not worry about a damn thing.

I think my other kitchen pet peeve is the dishwasher unloading technique. My wife pulls everything out of the dishwasher and put it on the counter immediately above the dishwasher which is immediately below the cabinets most of the dishes go into.

My wife admittedly cooks pretty well, when she does it. I cook alright too. I prefer when I cook, because cleanup is way easier. I cook something, and while working on the next thing, clean what I just used so I can use it again. Also makes cleanup at the end much easier. When she cooks, she uses as many pots and pans as humanly possible. Done with one pot, and have a second to rinse it and use again? Nope. Set it down next to the sink and grab another one. And then grab another one. And after dinner, say to me, I cooked, you clean. Big kitchen knife used to cut a piece of celery? Into the nasty pot because it's dirty. Or, if I'm lucky, and she tries to clean up, it's biggest pot straight into the dishwasher taking up as much space as possible. Then at cleanup, when I go to do the dishes, I pull it out of the dishwasher, "why are you taking that your of the dishwasher?" So I can clean it, and make room for all the dishes in the dishwasher.
