btw, you saved our afternoon. shortly after seeing you we headed back out and third run in my dude wipes out, and face plants hard enough to break his goggle lens. he is super bummed and starts to cry. then i explain how, we all wipe out and break stuff. and he asked - like the guy with the crampons? when I said yup, he broke his knee, and you only broke your goggles, a big smile came over his face and we headed into the ditch of doom. so, thanks for that.

Found some good snow in the usual spots today at KW. Rolling with a 5 and a 2 year old, I managed a few laps on my own. Skied Broadway in west shore and found a mix of winter chalk and spring snow. Headed to Chamoix and Oops face and miraculously found untracked old winter snow. Sentinel groomer at 2pm was smooth and tasty.

Who did you leave in charge? The two year old or the five year old?

I got the sense it was for "good customers" at this time. As of tonight nothing in the store was marked 60% off. There were a few 25% off signs.

Anyways MrsStormDay scored a 2nd new pair of skis this year. :biggrin:

Well, there was still a big "40-60% off" sign in the window this morning.

Most of the signs in the store haven't been updated for this sale. The Tyrolia Attack 13s still said $199 but rung up at $80, 60% off. A worker confirmed that the Look Pivot 14s, stickered at $299, would ring up at $120.

Nice early corn today on sun-exposed slopes, nice late corn on shaded slopes. Get it while the snow lasts, which may not be long :nonono2:

Great corn skiing this weekend. Rate of melt is alarming even up high.

Thanks for the heads up! Picked up a new pair of dexterous as fuck gloves, for dirt cheap.

Sale was well visible inside and out, said it would last till stuff was gone.

Good pow in Truckee. Should hold for a bit. Nothing melting on north aspects on the crest.

Still some winter snow at Kirkwood up high on Hells, top of the Wall, and in Boulevard chute in West Shore. But it was ridiculously warm the last two days. My car hit 83F in Tracy at around 5:00pm.

Race skis are 40% off, rec skis 60%. They have one pair of Bones--180's. A lot of other inventory.

Here's a test. Counts for 100% of your grade.

Q: If a passholder tries to rent a pair of ski poles for the day at Alpine Meadows:

Nice! I was wondering whether her recent successes had spurred her in that direction. Tahoe League or U system?

The simple answer is maybe. You'll need to predict how tall and heavy she'll be in 9 months. I had three going through the process, so I could basically stock up in 5mm increments and be good to go; you'll need more precision. Also, it's 40% on race price gear, not 60%. Which nets out to $200ish without bindings.

My advice would be to hit the Labor Day Weekend consignment sale early. Most of my kids' race skis have come from there, all for under $200 with bindings, and some of them were actually new when purchased.

Back at the tail end of winter (do you remember those two weeks of inclement weather?) Schralphmachio, liketoride, Noah and I took part in a fun CP2KW traverse. 8 hours, 8 miles, 4500' vert climb and three fun faces about sums it up. And lots of sunshine.


Not on out tic list for the day, but those spines do look interesting. Second Sister.

metzler, another friend, and i skied it in shallow spring powder a few years back. super fun. i wish it was a lot longer. if i remember right, the crux is navigating the shitty rock to get into that notch.

second hand info is that the crux of the crescent couloir is very cruxy (narrow and thin).
