4" at my house
Coldest morning so far....15F at my place.
If I have to see another post from a Vail Resorts' marketer claiming "Fall is gone and winter is here!" I might just stick a fork in my eye. It snowed 3" and is going to be 60F and sunny the next several days, dipshits. Quit spreading propaganda in an effort to sell more season passes. /rant.
I really had to laugh at Breckenridge Ski Resort's FB post yesterday...."Make no mistake, Fall's over and Winter is here."
Wanna bet?
Demand creation at its...finest? SMH.
Also THIS.
Saw this classic vid made Jerryoftheday. Epic early season rope drop at Breck: https://instagram.com/p/BLb51-TjHHa/
Don't be too lazy to click on that link^^^^^^
its phenomenal.
^^^ there is some horrid skiing in that clip, ignoring the clusterfuck crowd.
Got a new snowblower
Don't sweat it. A neighbor of mine who helps plow just said he's spending the winter in Antarctica. We're even.
So does that mean lightning is going to snowblow your mile long dirt road?
Man I need to get skied bad. I was pacing, constantly thinking about skiing, I couldn't stop taking out my skis and touching them, watching ski porn, unable to focus on work, considering making dangerous choices like going to Loveland on the 1st WROD day, etc.
So I finally had to do it, I lowered my standards, skipped out Friday and hiked in to the infamous snowpatch and got my skis wet. It was only a few hundred feet long and the hikers around were looking at me as I approached with my skis like I was leaving the bar at 1AM with beer googles on and an unattractive person on my arm. They asked questions like friends might if I were leaving the bar "are you really going to...?"
There were ridiculous lumpy hard ice bumps all over the slope that made her unattractive at first but once I cozied up to her and snuggled up close I noticed some drifts on the side where a few inches of powder had blown in and made a nice smoother wind packed surface. The warm embrace of the sun changed it up to almost corn, wetting the folds of the side of the patch so that when I pulled out the skis they slid right down slippery as can be. Once I was in there, I was doing IT, that feeling, in and out, side to side, up and down, grunting and groaning, SKIING. The slope could have been more beautiful, it could have been longer, smoother, but all the same it was all that I came for and as I came to the end I let out a holler the same as if I had claimed a true beauty of a descent.
Ahhh, I got skied.
Where do you gapers come from? Jeez.
Were you up around Sky Pond in RMNP? A friend took a picture of someone hiking in this weekend, Rossignol S7 (green tips) blue and green outdoor? Way to scratch the itch this time of year!
Hiked James Pk and skied down Mary's a couple weekends ago. The hike and views were great. The 300ft of skiing was obviously shitty but hey it beats walking down. http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...b531642e56.jpghttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...6fc85677ab.jpghttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...8089f3ada2.jpg
