Decent boots at rambleraven for pretty cheap when I was in there.
.
i spotted a couple of older, trip-hippies at 49N this weekend
one of the pair sat on a bench outside the lodge for about 6 hours,
just taking it all in ....
his buddy was boarding, sort of
saw him mid-mountain, standing in the snow with his
board and mittens off, staring at the snow
not that unusual, i do it all the time
except that he stood there in the same spot
while i did 5 laps off the summit
cool story, huh bro?
.
Couple buddies and I went up to Sherman pass yesterday. Coverage is great, snow quality not so much. Tons of wind slab, like a foot of basal facets, reactive layers up top. Ended up doing three laps on the hourglass as the north side was the only thing not consolidated. Looking over at the NE face of Snow Peak and I definitely want to rip that line someday.
A little late posting this, but Jackass was really good Friday morning. That is all. Attachment 445034Attachment 445035
Damn, wondered if you were up there. Friday was killer all damn day! Knee deep SOB x2 to finish the day at 245pm was amazing. The snow had the perfect density.

Super fun day shredding around JA with friends. Many smiles, laughs and turns were shared.
I rolled thru and said hi to some buddies in the Gondi line, I didn't see any of ya there, figured with the small early crowd it would be a fun day, 3 weeks down broken and one week to go to find out how long I'm down with a broken clavicle.
Oh no man! I was wondering why I haven’t seen ya lately. We were in the gondi line at about 8am. Heal up soon man!

Thanks 2F, yeah I was gone by 7:40, for a guy with one arm that was one scary parking lot.

Anybody skiing Silver tomorrow? I'm on my way to Seattle and laying over for a day. Apparently it was closed today due to high winds? So probably lots of windfuck. [emoji3] Any suggestions on where to find soft snow would be appreciated. Or if anybody is skiing and wants to show a tourist around let me know.
High winds expected tomorrow as well so who knows if they open. There may be a couple mags up there, Kopi-red and nw_skier. I’m working or would love to show ya around man. Winds were out of the N, NE today so leeward of that. SOB, chair 2 basin, North Face glades will hold decent in the trees. Meadows off Wardner. Gem, happy jack could be loaded.

Many thanks to ripping crew NW_SKIER, Kopi_red, and their friend Matt for an awesome day at Silver! Skied many laps through untracked blown-in powder in the North Face Glades, S.O.B. trees, and lots of other runs--but mostly the glades held the goods. Psyched you guys were willing to show me around this very cool ski area. Looking forward to coming back. Photo in P4 by NW_SKIER.

No reports from today? What did I miss?

You missed a deeeep day. Many turns in the white room. Second person in Sunset, first looked like Patrol, over the head every turn until the bottom. Eureka trees was crotch deep. NFG was knee deep. TP trees was uber deep, coming up for air and vis in between turns to spot my line. I’m spent.

Yeah and I missed a day at the Kan today. Instead I’m at Silver today. Hopefully it’s not too windy tomorrow.

This is the thread for Lookout Pass right? Snowskate race might be bringing a couple of maggot out of the woodwork. Anyone on here going to be around?
Also, are there any monoskiers on here? Met a guy with a mono on my last trip to Schweitzer. Thinking I will do some monoskiing on my next trip up there
Stereo or mono or whatever kind of board it is always fun to ski with other maggots
Big Blue is the next peak to the North of the end of the T-bar. There's a gate at the end of the T-bar, go out that, ski down the trail as far as you can, hike up as far as you want, ski down. You'll want to exit to the right, follow the drainage and you'll eventually get get out onto Little Blue Ridge. There will be other tracks to follow that will exit.
As for what to watch for, check with Patrol to ask how stability is. Don't go alone and if possible, hook up with a local. Big Blue does slide and isn't patrolled or controlled so make sure you're dialed in and properly equipped.
ETA: Check this site for current stability guidance. This will be updated tomorrow morning again and, with new snow falling today and some wind, things could be dicey. Again, check with Patrol. They're really happy to offer guidance as to current conditions.
As PTAVV noted below, stay to the right of the drainage that you can see on the map and work your way back to Little Blue Ridge. There are some roads you can exit from and as I said, follow the other tracks. Have fun!
ETA Again: I forgot to put up the site to check....my bad. Here's the avy conditions forecast

What GM said.
With all our new snow, more coming in, there is plenty to be had riding cable. I only went out there when inbounds was completely trashed and wanted to walk a bit, otherwise there is more than enough in the gates.

GM covered all the bases, but also make sure you don't drop too low at the bottom of the run. Hiking back up to Stella through that drainage sucks, it's thickly treed and there's a lot of (probably covered) creeks and streams
This map should help
If in doubt, not worth the trouble. You definitely don't want to be below the last road on the map that cuts over to LBR. If you do, you'll be walking out or trying to ski down to the valley. Neither is a good idea...
If you're not familiar with the area or with someone who is, it's pretty easy to either try and cut out too high or get too low. Also, again, don't go alone.
I'll be rolling through ID/MT on a ski road trip next week and was planning on hitting Silver on Wednesday. Anyone interested in linking for a few laps? Hitting Schweitzer the three days before and have ski buddies there but rolling solo from there.
Decent day up at JA..
