I'm a solid mix of delta force and granola muncher

Ended up only having 3 hours so hit the Eldora slack country for a few laps. A bit of pow in the shade but also kinda sticky and crusty. Time to go up high unless new pow comes in.

Also got to witness some of the gnarliest shit I've ever seen in person. As we were partying in the bottom of Revelation bowl a group of three dropped into the Hairy Banana couloir of Little Wasatch Peak. They took it slow but got stopped at the crux of the line. A cliff band that you have to traverse around. The entire cliff band looked like a 7' wide 50' long sheet of ice. Getting to the little traverse around the cliff band looked to be pretty much impossible without the right kind of gear. I don't think they had a rope, because it would have been much easier just to rappel the cliff band than anything else. They waited at the crux for close to 45 minutes before my group decided to head back to the front side of the mountain. The last I saw of the group was the three booting back up the couloir. Considering I haven't seen an article about a rescue in bear creek I have to assume that they made it out alright, but maybe a little scared.

While we were watching that go down in the banana another group had dropped into either the Grandfather or Heaven's Eleven Couloir. We couldn't see exactly what went down but at some point someone set off a slide. 15-20 minutes later we finally saw a group of two come out at the bottom of the traverse out. I'm sure the view from lift 9 was much better for that incident.

If anyone knows who these guys were I'd love to hear a TR from their perspective.

Near Silverton yesterday a rider set off a slide on a face I was planning on skiing not 15 minutes later. His group had already put three or four tracks on the same face so everyone was feeling pretty confident.
This season has been fantastic for the most part, but the last few days have been an excellent reminder of how dangerous the mountains can be.

The group in the Hairy Banana w able to boot up and out in about 45 minutes. I had a look at the line from gold hill and tried to catch them on the radio before they dropped. It definitely didn't look like it was in. My partner and I were dropping in to ride Bear Face as the 3 skiers traversed into the entrance of the Banana. After our descent I was hoping to see tracks exiting the Banana, but looked up to see the boys stuck at the crux. Waited around until they all started hiking out.

The incident in the Grandfather occurred when two parties arrived at the top of Oblivion bowl. One party dropped as the other agreed to wait until they were clear. The waiting party got impatient and dropped Oblivion bowl, cutting loose a slide that ran over the first party while on rappel. The creek was a bit of a shitshow that day.

I'm at the Jane. C lot. Anyone around?

For the record, it is currently raining in Dillon. Snow level doesn't look that low either.

Cirque was no good. I ended up leaving the resort, and doing some backcountry laps.

Keystone got soft early afternoon with a few sun breaks before the front moved in and was raining at the base when I left. Skinned a lap in Erickson Bowl, 5-6 patrol bomb holes at the top but no real movement. 4" of carvable corn over a firm base on leeward slopes.

Has anybody hit Pike's North side in the last..week or so?

Thanks for getting the info, and I'm glad no one got too fucked up.

Found some decent snow off Pano. Nothing ever fully softened up by the time I left (2ish), but that's ok. Sure as fuck beat working.

So the Euro is showing 5"'of water this weekend along the front range....depending on how cold that's a low end of 2 feet and a high end of 4ft....mercy.
