^^^ Didn't they try that last year? I don't remember it ever actually happening, probably based on the low snow?
I'll be working up on Donner Summit this weekend
might be down for beers or dinner Sat or Sun night
My guided tours on the Cirque start May 1st ;)
I think they will progress to opening but softly. Guided, then hopefully that new lift for better snow safety access, then game on.
Ill b lapping the shit out of Kwood side country sat if anyone would like to join me
^^^^looks like i am a go. was thinking going near, near, way far, far, near. Maybe going not so far before way far if time permits. waddya think? got skins?
Sold, 9:30 at chair 10?
Great snow and surprisingly good stability out by a creek near Truckee. Sure was cold for Tahoe up on the ridge lines, though.
^^^let me know either way. If with Nacho, are you going by way of red cliffs? Not that I'd join you for that part of the hike, but it may help me keep up with you later.
You young guys like to sleep in. But you ski faster than me, so sure, yeah, 9:30. Let me know if you show up earlier. Being a day trip, I'll probably be there for first chair(ish).
I'll be wearing pants, skis, some sort of top, a pack and I have one head with will be mostly covered.
And I have been thinking about that one line I often stare at before heading into Cali. That big face going down to 4th of July.
sleeper cell redonkulous day at squaw yester-squizzle
here is the 4th lap through silvy, i stopeed and/or bailed on the first 3
Nice Brannen!!
Hoping tomorrow is smoothish goodness. I'll be at Rose...anyone else?? Raccoon? Thudder??
Ok, who skied the middle finger today? Tracks look like they did it perfect. Come on claim it.
Alpine had a lot of good left overs (and partially filled in trenches) today if you knew where to look, especially off Sherwood. On the other hand, any time you got close to something steep it would be 2 great pow turns followed by hitting a massive ice bump/chunk. After one of said ice chunks tweaked my knee a bit I learned my lesson and intermediate tree runs were the way to go.
It kept snowing all day long, once again defying the forecasts. It won't be great tomorrow but it won't be bad, either.
Yup, I still can't believe what a ghost town it was first thing, it seemed like there was about 20 of us lapping Silvy for the first hour. My first 3 runs I'd go back and my tracks were still the only ones through there, like my own private ski area. A day I won't soon forget.
looks like I've got Tuesday free to ski
Alpine slackcountry was going off again today. Got into m1 which was spicy up top but sluftastic below the air. Bloody knuckles was also good, bit of sun crust below in spots. Thinking bout heading down to tioga Sunday/Monday anyone game? Willing to double someone up to the lakes on my snow machine n tour from there.
Also I never really understood what the big deal about the cirque was??? Doesn't really seem like it should be closed. And that nonsense in the article hyping it up to be some crazy "backcounty zone" that can't be skiied top to bottom is nonsense! It's unfortunate that you kwood mags have to wait to corn season to get in there, so many good lines that would be prime mid winter. I mean come on the cirquecdoesn't really have much on the bec or the midi or the reve venue, all of which are fair game for anyone
-6 in the pit past Silver Lake. Took a mile before I got the pic. Cool out here this morning
