Right back at ya... that ski hasn't seen snow since 2014.
Fun day today.
Pretty dramatic inversion this morning at Bachy. 7 AM - 34 F in town and 38 F in the parking lot. Cat crew deserves the MVP this season.
Bachy wasn't all that bad. No lift lines. Off-piste had an inch of cream cheese on it. Vis was acceptable. Got an untracked lap at noon after a short bootpack. Popped my Skyliner 6 cherry too.
Maybe cause I don’t ski there often but Skyline-6 makes little sense… PM6 and NW6 makes more sense to me.
ha, I now remember that there is a small parking lot by Sky and that I parked there once and had to climbed over snow bank to ski down to catch sky.
Official message from management to employees has been that capacity wasn’t as big of a factor as better performance in higher winds. Bigger chair, bigger haul line, counter weights, detachable grips, etc.
That chair is instrumental for the race programs. Pine Marten has a lot of wind closures, so a front side with Sunrise, Sky, and Red open satisfies more skiers than just Sunrise and Red.
I just want Powder Corp to put in a drag lift to the summit. Anyone know the latest opening of the Summit Chair? But it would be nice to see NWX go 6 pack whenever they decide to replace that chair.
^^^ I doubt a six-pack at either PMX or NWX will increase uphill traffic much. Based on my two laps thru Sky today at 1130-noon, there were an average of maybe 4.25 butts per chair. And that’s with long lines. The slightest hiccup at the ticket reader screws up butt density badly, especially when kids are involved
The new snow yesterday and last night made for nice groomer zooming first thing. The shady areas were quite firm. Crowds were reasonable until about 1015, then lines increased to maybe 10 minutes.
Gratuitous alpenglow shot.

Ngl meadows up high yesterday wasn't terrible at all.
Lower than the top of express on the other hand....

Happy New Year to all you misfits.
Today is my 27th straight New Year Day spent skiing.
Shot the moon in the AM

Was pretty much ski-on this AM. Guessing that shitty conditions, NYE celebrations and decisions to watch Ducks beat on Jesus Freaks kept the crowds in check.
Nice firm groomer zooming but it’s still low tide

Guess these will be my rock skis till it snows. Make skinny skis great again!
Ya get in the front of the boots on those race cahvehs.
Stoke is alive, thanks ullr. The sacrifices in the other thread have been accepted.
TBS - nice scratches. Straight and down the ski means you’re skiing proper!

Heh, interloper didn’t believe me when I told him ski techs charge less to repair scratches that run parallel to the ski compared to perpendicular “chicken scratches”.
I wish ON3P made a full camber, no rocker, 72mm waist, 14m radius ski. Or other manufacturers started using ON3P’s base material. Not even sure what I hit to cause those dings. I hit shit with my wrens that sound like “oh fuck” and then can’t find the scratch
Found a wee bit o soft yday

I think you’d get the same streaks on ON3Ps but you can’t see them as well. Black bases show superficial scratches really well.

^^^ You dream of snowboarding?
It is a great shot J. Gotta wonder where you’re hiking to get that snow
I’ve found ON3P and Praxis bases to be rock hard. I’ve hit shit that sounds like a core shot but even after looking closely can barely find a scratch. Volume mfrs like Head, K2, etc seem to use much softer/thinner material. No idea what I hit in that photo - maybe frozen chicken heads or pine cones because I was studiously avoiding brown snow
Snow flurries in Bend. The snowstake cam looks fuzzy. Can't be snow, can it?
Eastside had fresh smooth newness. Intermittent snow showers. Winter is here.

Well, nice find. And nice shot
Was talking to Patrol Director on chair ride last week. Said he did a recon run out there and there’s not enough snow to get a cat up the catchline. Said it was defensive/survival skiing between the getback and the catchline as well.
Tomorrow’s shaping up to be soft…
Saw this post in the Whistler thread
I'm cautiously optimistic

^^^ well, then, a road trip coming up... Crystal to Baker to Whistler ... to Sun Peak to Revey??
Meadows skied great today. I haven't had this much fun with 3" in a long time ;-)
Took my daughter to the Nordic center today. Snow falling steady from 11 to 3 at Bachelor. Kinda crazy, but less than a mile from the Sunrise turn off it was sunny, no precip. Both on the way up and back down. Lucky we were right on the front boundary.
Hopefully this storm cycle allows for OBX to open at some point during the weekend.
What the heck is going on here?

Zigged when he should have zagged.
Skiied great today.
^^^ it was kinda breezy at times today, but a 40mph gust shouldn’t blow a sled over.
Calling that operator error. Nice catch.
It was a little damp this AM. Started the day with freezing fog, then the freezing part stopped about 1100.

New snow was nice though…
Dang, you be hardcore TBS… I’ll ski in any condition except in rain. Speaking of new snow, Meadows snowstake has been sitting at 6 inches for about two days now. It saz it resets at 5 am but apparently not everyday… I’d say it’s a good tactic to get everybody excited to come up.
