They took Phoenix to overtime tonight, several of them looked like actual NBA players. Unfortunately Cade wasn’t one of them. Bagley looked like he wanted to play in the NBA, obviously he wants that back up center position more than Wiseman. At this point Wiseman looks to be another in Weaver’s long list of unfounded rehabilitation projects. Killian looked like he knows his next contract is in the balance, he was aggressive but yet still didn’t have his shot. Ivey came off the bench and gave some spark, he shot the ball well and drove at times. Ausar Thompson is going to be a stud, dude will stuff the stat sheet. He’s going to put up Andrei Kirilenko type numbers.
I’m hoping for that play in!
Gotta love the optimism! I did see that the Suns dropped 46 points in the first quarter of the game last night so I was surprised it went to OT when I just looked up the score. And for what its worth, reports were that Cade impressed this summer on the Team USA practice squad so hopefully it was just a one-game, first game on the preseason thing. It is preseason after all, and its a long season. I think Cade has a lot of potential.Quote:

Cavs, now under new ownership, are 1-0 after a thrilling come from behind [after choking a 10pt lead] 1-point win.
The disappointing thing is no matter how good this team is this year (should be pretty f'in good), all the national talking heads will still be talking about how long till Donovan bolts for the Knicks or some such shit.

First game was fun to watch, lost to the Heat by one, with a shot to win as the buzzer went off. They look markedly improved since last season, Monty has shaken up the rotation a bit. No longer are players let play on after mistakes or not playing defense. Accountability seems to be helping to turn things around.
Tonight they led the Hornets from start to finish, once again on the road. The Hornets didn’t have an answer to the physicality of Isaiah Stewart and Jalen Duren. I had to watch the Hornets feed, for some reason the app won’t let me select the Detroit feed. But, it was interesting listening to the Hornets announcers gush about what a “beast” Duren is. Cade was the best player on the floor against the Heat, he was off tonight and it was nice to see some of the other Pistons (I’m looking at you Alec Burks) step up and carry the load.
I’m basking in the glory of .500, hopefully it keeps up. I’m looking forward to watching the home opener against the Bulls tomorrow.

Jokic throws these types of pass pretty regularly. The precision of that alley oop was way different as it has to be perfect (as the receiver can't just adjust speed/angle). It's fun in itself, but you can see the difference between Jokic's pass and most of the (excellent) passes in the compilation. Almost all of them are thrown chest pass/heave style with the players momentum already going toward where they want the ball to go. Jokic here starts facing perpendicular so as to disguise his intentions then just kind of pivots a bit and throws a baseball style pass right on the money. The only passes in the comp that are similar are DWade to LeBron for layups (first pass in the video then a second at 6:50 or so). They aren't quite close enough for LeBron to dunk, but still excellent, excellent passes and the announcer starts to explain in one of the clips why a baseball pass is so much trickier to throw than most lobs, which applies here too, especially when - like Jokic's - they're coming in at an angle rather than directly over the shoulder so a player can adjust their speed to the flight of the ball and still be on line.
So in conclusion, my new choice for who could throw that pass is DWade, though Love was also an excellent baseball passer - often from baseline out of bounds. Hmm, maybe it helps to have an elite receiver as well for those type of passes. Gordon is about as good a lob finisher as you're going to find and LeBron like in his ability to get up, catch the ball, and finish, even when there is contact.
Yeah, Wade's pass(es) was closest. But all of them were made during a live ball. Jokic got the ball from the ref, after a stoppage, and like you say isn't even facing the play. I watched that whole youtube, and none of them were on the same level.
Great player making a phenomenal pass. Not unique in the NBA.

Anyone hear who the third team was with the additional first round draft pick is? Could really flavor the trade depending what it is.
Not the exact pieces I'd want in return for harden, but glad that saga is over. Sixers definitely picked up some nice role players and hopefully, Maxey can make a leap this season. Draft capitol is nice, but the sixers need to win now. Always liked Robert Covington so glad he's back in a sixers uni. Kinda surprised the clippers acquired harden as I thought their team was playing pretty good this season and harden could definitely disrupt that, but this trade seemed inevitable.Quote:
