I'm liking the Dr Funk snippets that show up in my y00t00b f33d:
I never knew the Specials' version of this was a cover until I overheard this yesterday and tracked it down.

Not sure where this little nugget belongs, but the Zappa catalogue has been sold:
May FZ touch the world more widely.

That band is great in an unexplainable way.
I probably posted about Lomax Archives here before, I dunno maybe not. Endless videos of real people playing music and no bullshit.

Definitely. They're practically their own genre.
As is Polyphia. Guess I've been out of the loop as evidently they're pretty popular. Massively talented. That drummer is so precise is sounds synthesized! Is it? Sheesh. Neat sound. If this is what the kids are into these days and we've officially moved beyond dubstep and mumble rap, then I'm all for it. Haha.

Apparently they've been around for about 10 years. Look up their other stuff or their take on Bach Concerto No. 1 in D Minor. Holy crap. These kids' guitar and drum skills are next level!

FZ & The Mothers Central Park 1969 live, had not heard this before. Poor audio quality, but usual interesting FZ twists and dents into the boogie.
The Gardner Brothers were great,

So, it turns out, that before Reggae, Ska, any of it, the music of Jamaica was Mento, which I had never heard of until 15 minutes ago. Turns out there's a lot of it on Youtube. Here's some that I'm currently very much enjoying as I type this.

The first Praxis shows since 2006 and feature a reunited classic lineup of Buckethead, Bill Laswell, and Bryan "Brain" Mantia.
I'm sure I'm just not-quite-a-boomer and missed hearing of these guys, but my nephew just turned me on to this, got a cool funky vibe.
