Great snow today. They need to open more terrain.
I'll be up for the fresh in the morning. Blue jacket and touring gear. Say hi.
Also, I know if your house burned, you have other priorities, but I want to see if we can help maggots who lost ski gear. A little mental health activity might be what is needed.
Super fun morning up there! No crowds. Keep that snow coming!

How close are they to getting Corona open?
No power at Eldora at the moment.
And they only have one run going on Indian Peaks, so I don't think Corona is close.
They had a the guns blasting Around the Horn and Muleshoe, the other morning. It looked like they were trying hard to get the way to Corona open.
Yeah, maybe they'll open it with one run (muleshoe) like IP.
Great day for me today. Got up at 5:15 to take kiddo to ski practice, leave at 6:10, drive 50 minutes on snowy roads. Get there, and stand around in the parking lot for 90 minutes because the powers out, practice gets called, drive home.
That’s a bummer Danno. It probably would’ve skied pretty well too. Hope this isn’t a pattern this season.
Mid week looking nice.
Sounds like some shenanigans up there today:
Quote:
Good evening, skiers and riders. We need to talk about today at Eldora.
Today we saw record visitation. Our parking lots were filled completely by 8:45 AM. We were forced to cut off access to the ski area from 8:45 until 11:45. We call this situation a "park out." When a park out occurs, no vehicles—not even those attempting to drop off or pick up passengers—can be allowed up to the resort until the lots begin to empty and we regain parking capacity. The only exceptions are emergency vehicles, RTD buses, our FREE Boulder-to-Eldora Shuttles, and residents of the town of Eldora.
At 7:45 AM, we warned that we would run out of parking. We said that if you weren't already well on your way, our advice was to not come this morning, and instead to come later in the day. This warning began a cascade of real-time updates as to our parking situation. We do our best to keep our guests informed of the traffic and parking situation as frequently and transparently as possible.
We provide easy-to-use tools for our guests to find out what's going on at Eldora before making the trip here. Updates are first posted to this page, which can be easily reached with the URL Eldora.com/conditions. We link to it from the top of the homepage and push it out on social media every morning around 6:00 AM. As simultaneously as possible, we post updates to our Twitter feed and to our Instagram Stories. Our Twitter feed is also embedded on the bottom of this page.
Despite our warnings not to arrive until the afternoon, cars continued to come after the roadblock was in place. Traffic backed up, tensions flared, and we had several incidents where angry guests threatened our staff verbally and physically. We simply can't have this happen. We will not tolerate it. If it continues to happen, we will do everything in our power to hold the offenders accountable.
The vast majority of our guests today were unfailingly polite, cheerful, and happy to be outside with family and friends. Most especially the guests who checked our feeds before they came, and heeded advice about when to arrive and when not to arrive. They had a great time. We loved interacting with them. But in this time of frayed nerves and short-staffed businesses across the country struggling with the ravages of COVID, some folks have tossed civility out the window.
Let's not be those people. This is an appeal for calm, for respecting one another, and for checking in advance if you plan to come to Eldora. Tomorrow being a sunny Sunday with relatively recent snow, all of the ingredients exist for another park-out. Please read the information and advice below in order to make your visit a success and allow us to serve you to the best of our abilities.
Ok. Which one of you guys was shit talking the staff turning people around at the high school?
Two days ago I saw a vehicle that could make it up that canyon.

Sad that things got that tense. Was at Moffat yesterday. Likely confluence of RMNP closed and Eldo park out (and wind and avy risk above TL) made things way more crowded than I've ever seen there. Also the perfect conditions for a multi-car pile-up at caribou... hopefully that didnt happen
People are in Facebook demanding that they bring back parking reservations. I wonder if people realize that those only worked because they significantly reduced capacity?
Still, they do need to figure something out. As much as I hate to say it, maybe get off iKon?
You really need to re-evaluate your life if you’re getting so bent out of shape about missing the Eldora road closure that you’re aiming your car and charging at the kids working the gate.
jong and i left at 1:45 today, backed up to lake, metering at high school up the road.

good meeting you stapes, laps in future
corona was scraped down man made. truly terrifying run of zero edge hold, good times
We ended up going xc skiing instead. Though that was a fail because my daughter's bindings broke in the lot.
I went up today and it was a tad busier in the lot than I thought it would be but nonetheless easy parking at Noonish.
I had a blast! Beautiful sunny day and great to get my mind off all the other crap in the world. Planning to head back up on Wednesday or Thursday.

Congrats!
I spent the 70’s running gates up there and one of my buds had a cabin in Eldora. Place was deserted in the winter.
Have most of the cabins been replaced with homes?
Hi cm!
I'll be up tomorrow morning.
Good turns with Hawk and his crew yesterday, West Ridge and Moose Glades were surprisingly good.
Yeah. I didn’t notice but it must have been as early as last Monday but as late as Friday AFAICT. I was out Sun and salto and West Ridge skied pretty much like “normal” mid season after a few dry days. Good snow on tracked lines. Fewer punji and rocks than I had expected. That was good to see.
On the other side of the mountain jug glades were getting sad. Brown chunk ice and full on bobsled sections.
And, an overlooked run, my absolute favorite, Summer Road is now open. This run allows fast access to car beer even if you park all the way in the back. And, there’s even less skating than pipeline! Yay!!
Sorry I missed you guys, glad it was skiing good for y’all!!

EXTREEEEEME!!
Gully is BS. They chopped all the best parts of Bryan Glade (from the old days - can't even remember what it was called before "Bryan") into very-much whatevs runs (presumably so they could up their runs-count) - so sad. Going up tomorrow a.m. Psyched to ski westridge, before it becomes the tortured-ass moguls it...becomes these days. Green jacket, orange boots, if anyone cares.

JK, kinda. not really. Def jealous of Friday skiing, have fun! Boss man got me working, after zero hours available on Monday and Tuesday. UGH.
I wonder if a certain meteorologist is predicting Eldo to get 2-4 friday/friday night and not much elsewhere in the franger accessible zones. That's what it was kinda looking like to me.
My little subie's brakes are tired. Might be on the Bus Saturday, since I can catch it from here in Longmont. Or, fix her on Sat and run up for Sun. Anybody else going up this weekend?
