Cats will beat you up if it’s right to get tunnel slap but they sit real nice in the ugly. When I decide to buy a boat instead of running for someone else it’ll be a cat. Probably an Armstrong or ACI.

Los Suenos, C.R.
Does that place still have giant frogs (toads?) on all the roads & walkways?
Toads, iguanas, armadillos. Not nearly as many wild amphibians, reptiles and animals as a bit further south. But that’s ok. It is still paradise

Hardest part will be finding/paying for her dock. I put my daughter on the houseboat mooring waitlist as I'll be long gone before our name comes up. She can use it in retirement in 2070.

What was that thing before the rehab? Maybe a restaurant?
Looks like it's gonna need to be hauled and cleaned up and painted before too long, that won't be cheap. But yeah it's cool. I wonder if it could be moored? It'd take a hell of a mooring to hold it though.
Maybe a restaurant was its first repurposing, and it was originally some kind of barge? Still available, WW
It was a barge - one of the two that basically dug the Cape Cod Canal (well the machines on it did the digging):https://www.yachtworld.com/boats/191...chvrenW2Piy33w
scroll down to "History" for the story
Thanks ice, I missed that, the history is cool. ‘’It was beached for years along the shores of Woods Hole..’’
Too bad the listing doesn’t have higher quality photos.
Nice one. Hard to believe a couple barges like that dug that canal in the early 20th century. Wikipedia page reports the project had been considered since the early 17th century.
So is that guy handling wire rope with his bare hands?

Bucyrus-Erie was an American surface and underground mining equipment company. It was founded as Bucyrus Foundry and Manufacturing Company in Bucyrus, Ohio in 1880. Bucyrus moved its headquarters to South Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1893. In 1927, Bucyrus merged with the Erie Steam Shovel Company to form Bucyrus-Erie.
Renamed Bucyrus International, Inc. in 1997, it was purchased by Caterpillar Inc. in a US$7.6 billion[7] ($8.6 billion including net debt) transaction that closed on July 8, 2011. At the time of its acquisition, the Bucyrus product line included a range of material removal and material handling products used in both surface and underground mining.
Maybe that's just regular rope he's holding?
Yeah, it's probably just something they had to rig up to get in/out across those gears and that turntable without dumping steam. They didn't give a shit about mantraps back then.
The one with Teddy is a little work hoe, but that big bastard dredge got on that spud barge via the rail, prob in pieces just small enough for 2 rail-mounted steam cranes.
Steam generates hella torque, which the operator can vary by "cut-off", or amount of time the steam is injected into the cylinders. But the higher the torque, the lower the efficiency and the more somebody had to shovel coal.
Best friend from law school has a 37 Freeman w/ quad 300's. It will run 50+ in 5' seas and never bat an eye.

I didn't realize that was a Merritt's project. Looks like they're doing another one. It's hard to imagine being unhappy with work done by Merritt's.
I wonder how many times Roy Merritt said "I don't think I wanna do that" before Buffett finally wore him down.
that Buffett fella sure has some boats.
His best one- 42 Rybo
