I just joined and stumbled into this miracle of threadage. Win.
I don't really know what to add at this point. I primarily just wanted to get that video up as it is something I've had in the back of my mind for a long time and is meant to have broad appeal.
I'm trying to work out what'll be more of a game-changer: the skis or the polecam. But if you can handle both, then you're in for a ride that goes well beyond the ski run.
Polecam = game changer. Yes, I would go with that one alright.
Friggin neat-o bro!
Have any ski film makers started using radio controlled multicopters?

Yes...many actually....
Sherpas, TGR, MSP.
When a helicopter is impossible to get/to use due to a budget or location they are used.

Great, could become more common as prices come down, and with FPV piloting too.

2012: A Carving Transformation (1:39)
I am expecting to release 2 products formally this week relating to the polecam.
The first product is an addon pack for any existing pole with a tapered end, in particular, one with a Leki compatible tip. That tip is removed prior to installation.
The HC tip is pressed onto the end of the pole and bonded with a water and cold resistant sealant which I can supply. This bonding does not produce the main component of connective strenth, the friction does, so theoretically this adhesion is optional.

(a cable lock can be placed through the red piece after taking off the black circular adapter)
http://heartcarve.com/images/b.jpg
The tip comes with a camera thread (the black circular adapter) or there is the option to use 1 or 2 ball heads (opposing each other) which I can supply, and the safety ball.
I use the Gossamer Gear LT4S in my setup (they said they are low on stock until the winter is over) but any Carbon Fiber pole would be ideal. The 3-section Black Diamond Z-Pole could be a good choice as it has an extended handle, and can fit in a pack. I haven't tested the HC tip as a substitute for the Black Diamond designed tips but it shouldn't be a problem (any tapered tip should be fine.)
If the handle of your pole has a camera thread (such as the GG LTS4,) you can place the monopod basket on it or the safety ball (or another ball head.)

Important:
I am also launching a second product that comprises of a complete pole made from separate high quality 30cm carbon rods, with each coupled together by a high quality aluminium thread so it can be disassembled and placed in one's backpack when not in use. It will have an extra long cork handle (as seen here):
http://heartcarve.com/images/a.jpg
and it will also have a threaded insert in the handle for safety ball, additional cameras or monopod basket. I am particularly looking forward to this pole and it shouldn't be expensive. It should be very slick, light, aerodynamic, strong and not too expensive. It will also have the option for a single Gopro tip that is vibration dampened.
Product pages, pics and prices should be on my site hopefully by the end of the week.
Thank god it's aerodynamic, I was afraid the excessive drag would prevent me from achieving terminal velocity.
Yeah, I learned that some carbon fiber poles are actually more aerodynamic than others!
I like your user handle. Perhaps you're a heartcarver and you don't even know it. The speedboards (or are they boardskis?) are currently under construction... need to have something to film. Things are changing.
Oh I know it. I learned to carve switch on a pair of Head Liners many years ago.
Started using the "handle" in '96 when I got my 1st online account because I usually ski a snowboard.
OK. What are you on now? What ski precisely was that?
But take any ski out of its comfort zone and carving becomes sliding. That's when I need to heartslide, and within the slide I can throw in a bit of carve at the apex of the turn. I found that very hard to do on my SL sidecut skis. They just don't have the beef.
Beef shmeef, the Heads are 94cm, 130 tip and 95 waist. they're designed for carve training rather than tricks and if you don't keep your weight centered with equal pressure at "terminal velocity" you'll eat groom (never use'em pow).
Only bust'em out once in a blue moon when the off piste is crap and I need a change of pace from real carving on the race board.
no vids on the minis but here's a pic (far left)

What in the fuck? Whoa, and here I am thinking how fucking stupid this hole pole cam fad is, and then whammo, a product designed just for that purpose. And just when I thought there is no way you can possibly top that you post up the "carvers" and then just when you think it's all over, you see the price. Mind = blown...wow.
... when you look at other prices for custom skis, it's cheap. The polecam should be be around $150 or more, not sure yet, I will definitely know in a couple of weeks. I'd rather get all my gear for free myself. Capitalism for ya.
the newschoolers are coming.

(when I saw this my head snapped back)
Henrik Harlaut from Be yourself (7:23 -11:00) - disc. And there's been some lively debate on NS about poles or no poles.
So I'm just waiting for Ian McIntosh to catch on in one of his high consequence lines.
And for a while I thought this was all some elaborate troll. I don't know if I'm disappointed or amazed.
I myself am humbled by the power of heart.
And let the doorway open wide for you, comrade.
As it is for me.

(the first pic I saw of the "carvers")
and so let the journey be wondrous for all the pioneers of heart.

When I read your posts on this heart carve crap I found myself wondering "what the fuck is wrong with this guy?" And " is the most elaborate troll in the world?"
Well then you go and make those godawful looking planks...............
and TOTALLY ReDeem YOURSELF!!
I still don't see the allure or rationality of it but who gives a fuck. Your dedication and perseverance in the face of everyone talking shit is pretty impressive. When you set your mind on something you commit and don't give a shit what others think, that's admirable. Now if you would just set your sights on something lucrative (and appealing to other people rather than JUST you) you will be a rich man someday.
we all just slide down snow with crap attached to our feet, whose to say your crap is crap. As long as your having fun.
I'm pushing forward anyway, thanks. To be rich in spirit is all that matters at this point (as you would appreciate) but not requiring a hospital stay to get there and still having some dollars to walk away with. hmmm, I'd actually like other ski makers to do an hc model with the logo and then I'll run the hc community website for group pontification. That may work. Let's see if there's demand for it.
I should add: would be great for ski resorts to close off runs and put up obstacles and banked turns, like skier cross but less jumpy:
http://graphics8.nytimes.com/images/...ski_slide3.jpg
how I see it... 1 skier at a time, maybe have safety barriers.
Often the steepest runs at a resort get moguls... I'd like to see them stay fairly flat and people-free. Then the true power of the heart can manifest.
Do you think anyone else is interested in this? This is a serious question.
Have people ever approached you seriously asking how to get those skis or ski like you?
I see this more as a hobby for you, but you could be onto something, look at the mono-ski. A bunch of sweaty nut sacks and some common sense later those things are just a novelty now.
I'm without a doubt the worst skier on this forum, but I still want to make fun of you.
Up close, I actually think they look great. I specifically asked no topsheet, just to let you know.
Yeah, you know it's all very well for people to take the piss from the GSA, but I am building up to my day of taking the piss from those who take it from GSA..... muahahahaha.
Super happy to launch the polecam today. It's just too good to keep to myself.

Pricing within next week hopefully.
I love this thread so much.
Back from first day of pow. The heartcarve skis are brilliant in pow. They float pretty well (being 155 I presume they're not going to float like a 180) but the tips can fully submerge and there is no concern of diving over (they're fully rockered.) I don't need to lean back like on my other skis. Will be putting video up.. but it could take up to 8 hours as internet connection here is very slow. There is already one of piste skiing up on my site from Day 2. It's snowing now and I caught above ankle deep pow.
