Kachina ready to be raped.

I was told that you can't even buy this sticker, due to its offensive nature to native Americans, although Erie Blake used a lot of Pueblo residents help him create the place.

^^^, yeah. Usually the 2* is on one venue, 4* qualifiers on another, 4* finals on whatever the biggest thing is which I would have presumed to be Kachina.
Go say hi to my kid. Or watch the 4* finals at least. Some really good skiing. Weather looks fantastic there! Wish I could have gone.
Yeah, week turned well. Today was the definition of bluebird. Next two days will be back to Spring, but not too warm.

Looks like it was already raped... by the wind.
awesome day, now I know why everyone I meet from New Mexico is a good skier. I would think they are saving Kachina for the comp. Didn't see any control work. That West ridge stuff was getting pretty skied up. I would guess if they didn't open it today they are saving it for the comp. Some great terrain hard to believe only 1300 acres.
I don't think they're saving anything after talking to a few patroller buds. Kachina should be open for hike to tomorrow assuming control work goes well.
Absolutely stunner day on the hill. Not a cloud or chemtrail in the sky, excellent snow quality and some gate drops around Bambi ridge. Hands down the best day of the year (for me).
Great pic - typical conditions the day or two after I leave a mountain.
But on a side note, "ready to be raped"? (Or from your other post - "used up like an old whore"?) I appreciate the pic and ski report, but that kind of language is offensive, especially after skiing that terrain just a few days ago with my daughters. Maybe it was not intended to offend, but it's not just protective dads and the PC police, there are a lot of normal people (and police and prosecutors) who see "rape" as a bad thing. Not interested in debate, that would be for polyasshat anyway. So feel free to insult me or carry on with the gratuitous misogyny if you like, but just FYI - it's weird.
^it's Benny being benny. Welcome to tgr.
Taos is way over his head...even the green circle of Kachina.
Skied Taos for the first time on Mon and Tues. Can only imagine what yesterday was like. Lots of fun terrain off the hikes.
Jeez, lighten up.

Raped. My man Mickey at the exit. No, I didn't hike. Just learning how to ski.
If that's your definition, ski Squaw sometime. That'd be like the first five minutes after a lift opened.
Only hikers today.
Save your boot work for the boot doctors, and the 185 dollar 6 day instruction week is stupid cheap.
Patrol always opens Kachina to hiking before the lift opens.
Back in early Feb, they were loading every other chair on Kachina. Thought it might be a lift issue, but patrol said it was part of their snow preservation plan, during the long term high pressure weather pattern. Once the K chute chokes get scrapped down to rock, it carnage when the Texicans come.
interesting the way they open the terrain. Looks like Benny maybe right now the have had all the west ridge stuff closed last two days. glad the locals got a chance to ski it first
Gotcha. That makes more sense now. I know that chair was super controversial, so that way of managing the terrain seems like a solid compromise. That actually makes it more attractive to me as a potential visitor, honestly.
Michaels breakfast spot in town makes maple bacon donuts. Awesome.
And check out the four nights for the price of three right now at the Taos Inn. Nice place.
Can any local mags tell me if there is any natural snow up high? Thinking about heading up near sipapu for enduro riding before it locks up. Tx!

This is brutal. Hopefully the pattern changes soon. Aqua is going to be an issue.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...7d26cabf06.jpg
^Beyond brutal. If I wasn't a pussy I'd slit my wrists.
Looks like Juarez is almost skiable...

Could be the year to ski Taos without bumps!
It’s a rocky place, if they don’t get something soon, their done.
Good thing the owner has deep pockets. Can’t say the same for some of the smaller hills.
Well, we're booked to be down there again March 30th I think... good thing it's with fam and we don't have to ski...
I heard they were going to try and turn their attention to lift 7 terrain for snowmaking.
A bunch of us from here bought the Abasin Pass. Mostly for the late season, but the three day at Taos was definitely icing on the cake.

Good lord, those poor bastards. This looks like a season when the locals just drink the winter away.
The Four Corners area seems to have drought years following the really big seasons. At least that's been the case since I moved here 16 years ago. 05/06, 10/11, and now 17/18 being the examples of drought seasons following 350+ inch winters. Being here in Arizona this isn't that strange but to see the southern Rockies still dry as a bone seems pretty weird and scary for our water supply.
dirtbike, dirtbike, dirtbike, ski with two year old, dirtbike, dirtbike, ski with two year old, repeat. Viva New Mexico!

Better late than never. The snow returns to Northern New Mexico with more in the forecast.
Patroller lines down Juarez looked quite nice this afternoon. Highline Ridge to Ninos Heros rumored to open soon. Reforma / Blitz also mentioned in possible openings.
Top section of Al's run was poached with style around 1:30pm.
Lots of little trees still out there.
