If there is anyone on the teton area that wants to go to Idaho Falls to see it, I'd go. (Paging Rideit)
I heard it was fantastic! Didn't get to see it.
On another note.... The Panic performance at TRI was very well done. They played to a room that didn't have expectations. Very relaxed. If you dig WSP and they make it available again, check it out.
it really was fantastic!
sound and picture were perfect in Hadley, MA.
it's easy to forget just how much charisma the boys had, rock&roll royalty.
Jerry strutting about in Levi's and leather, total badass!!
the 'second' version of Playing is next level, Jerry never looks at the neck of his Strat, looks directly into the camera and absolutely shreds!
goose bumps and whatnot.
just a really cool soundcheck like atmosphere, everyone loose and happy.
Pigpen and Jerry with the 'green towel', Keith actually laughing and smiling. good stuff!
Figured I throw this out there, being summer. Any one want to do some old school show trading. I have a 500-800 (I can't count that high) mp3s and over 100 FLAC shows. I can fill up an old 100gb harddrive if anyone is interested.
You guys are slacking.
Dave's picks vol. 11 was released since this thread was last posted in. I know, most of you use Archive or other sources as do I but this is another very well mixed winner. First set is good with an excellent Bird Song and Box. I'm not a big fan of Box of Rain unless it's exceptional. I think this one is. The second set is really good. Trucking > other one is phenomenal! The mix elevates this better than anything I could find out there...go figure.
The quality is again, top notch.
Edit: 11/17/72 Wichita, KS
I will second that Dave's Picks 11 show from fall '72. It is a sweet one, can't wait for the Spring 1990 The Other One box set next month. Spring '90 is a very underrated tour. So many good shows in that tour including the 3-29-90 Branford & Dead show from Uniondale, NY.
I didn't feel Dave's 11 was worth a bump. A soundboard only with zero crowd interaction, I thought it was a good recording, but; kind of let down from the previous releases.
The Spring 90 TOO should be better than solid, if you can stomach the price. etree had a poor mans Spring 90 TOO version of the shows up a few weeks ago until Bobby pulled it. The first spring 90 box was fan-fuckin-tastic, I expect this to be great as well.
It will be great with the remaster I'm sure but I have most of the shows already and with decent+ quality so it will be hard to justify stomaching the $ based on that.
On a separate but related note, am I the only one that thinks the 90 Euro tour produced some great shows (Zenith, Wembley especially) that don't get a lot of mention? A low stress, random tour in front of small crowds that showcased Jerry and Bruce constantly challenging each other musically with the rest of the band seemingly very content to just roll with it.
You are not alone by any means.... Let the good times roll!

meh on '90.
hated Jerry and his midi fascination, flute, trumpet ,fucking oboe, no thanks.
'85 for ever!
A new Grateful Dead smartphone app came out that is like Archive.org but made for smartphones. You search with ease for shows.
Just type in Grateful Dead app & you'll find it. The have ones for Phish & a few other jam bands as well. They are all free.
Pretty, pretty, pretty good.
Very different times but can't argue with you on 85 over 90. Hornsby made it interesting for a few years and kept Jerry on his toes and pushed him in ways nobody but Brent could and probably more so musically. As far as the midi stuff, monotonous at times definitely (enter sax in Estimated), but worked well at other times to create fresh jams that kept the band moving forward post Brent...at least for a short period before everything started to crumble and Phish shows became the better option by far on a night by night basis.
Yeah. I'm not saying it's as good as some of the others but I'm a fan of sbd's and that other one is damn fine IMO. I wasn't that blown away by the rest of it. As mentioned, some other notable stuff but I agree that it wasn't his hrs pick. Still, something that I probably wouldn't have given much thought to if it had not been released.
Happy veneta day, everybody!
Pretty cool app!
If you like free Dead podcasts, check out Dead Show of the Month & The Deadpod.

My request to Dead Show of the Month became reality, actually I have had two requests become show on that podcast (the other was RFK June '73 where the Allman Brother & Dead jammed together), is from 1971-10-29. Keith's third show with the band.
Allan Theatre Cleveland, OH SET 1: Truckin', Sugaree, El Paso, Loser, Playin' in the Band, Brown Eyed Women, Beat It On Down The Line, Brokedown Palace, Jack Straw, Tennessee Jed, Mexicali Blues, Big Railroad Blues, Casey Jones HALF-TIME: (The Paper Crowns Live & In Studio) Feel Good Song, Devil Went Down, Rain Comes, Testify Testify SET 2: Cryptical Envelopment > Drums > Other One > Me & My Uncle > Other One > Cryptical Envelopment > Deal, Sugar Magnolia, Ramble On Rose, Not Fade Away > GDTRFB > Not Fade Away, One More Saturday Night
Enjoy.
Enjoying the 12/30/89 at work today. Damn fine memories of that one! Haven't listened to it on a long time.
And
Dave from DS of the month PC has done a nice job recently. That's a great show y brought in above! I dig how that guy goes all over the place. Not every show he picks is super tight. Some even have some disasters. That's what the band was though. I kinda like listening to some of the less than stellar shows from all years. It's fun to hear the guys pull themselves out of trouble. That was something I noticed at shows more than listening, years later. Recently, it's been fun to rediscover their ability to go from not-so-good to really fuckin great. Sometimes it happens within a song. Other times it ebbs and flows through em entire show.
I find this guy picks some shows that make it fun to listen for that. Well worth tuning in if you don't already.
I'll just leave this here:

^ This Bird Song is unreal, and then the Eyes-> Prophet->DS are mind blowing. The quality of the recording is beyond anything from the Dave's series (which I love)
That Branford show is insane, I have had it for years. From what I read the second set had no written set list to go by. They traded off & played what seemed good song to song. Good it was, actually it was way more than good. It is one of my top 10-15 shows & my iTunes has every Dave's, Dick's picks, almost every other official releases, plus a crazy amount of stuff from Archive.org. My friends love it when they copy music from my external hard drive.

" Another Taper Named Gerry Project"
Notes:
* Special Thanks to Gerry for Taping this and sharing his masters with me, these were transferd from Gerry's Reel's in the Mid 1980's when tape trading & collecting had a social aspect to it. If you are familiar with Hot Tuna 5-8-74 Gym S.U.N.Y. Stonybrook, NY , Gerry Taped it as well as many other great shows..
Did anyone order the Spring '90 TOO box?
Nice. The Nassau show. Hittin the stride!
I got mine too. Got through the first show listening via DJ headphones and giving it another go on my desktop camper speakers today. The mix is really good. A little heavy on Garcia's vocals and both drum kits were a little lost for some of the first set but pretty nice! A few dead spots but that's to be expected. Stoked to have it! Lots of great music. Brings back fond and hazy memories!
They went the extra mile to please the GD collector on this one. The fake ticket stubs etc.., are a little much for my taste and $ but I can see people digging the nostalgic feeling of it. It definitely sparked interest in looking for my old stub collection buried in my folks basement next time I visit. Prolly have a few stubs from this run. It gonna take some time to get through all this but for starters it's cool. There are some high quality mixes of some of these shows on archive but if you want the goods, it's prolly worth getting your hands on this one way or the other.
Rideit - come take a few shows of you want.

wish I had this stub
Anyone else using Archivist app not able to load Phil shows? Started a couple weeks ago, says there's 1750 of them but can't access them anymore.
^ Haven't tried in a week or so but same here.
