Have you forgotten last season when Gus paid a visit to see if he could take over from Walt in the lab?
^^^^
Damn! Thanks for clearing that up. I should really get the DVD sets - I watch the new episode every week and that's it.

Watch them all.
God damn this season has been good - this latest episode may be the best. Definitely starting to actually *like* Gus a little bit - that guy is a nerdy-looking bad-ass.
There's a lot to like about Gus. His motivations are becoming more clear, although I think that is what ultimately could bring him down.
Mike is a rad charactor. If anyone goes away from the whole thing completely unscathed it will be him. Only thing he's done so far that is questionable is beat down Walt in a bar.
I highly doubt Mike will make it, I expect he'll go down in a hail of gunfire in the war with the cartel.
I think the beat down was well deserved, as Walt is a weaselly back stabber, and Mike is very loyal to Gus (in spite of his knowledge that he's not getting paid like Walt). I expect a flashback, at some point (probably just before he gets it), to show us why.
I'm not saying Walt didn't deserve Mike's beat-down, I saying that it was stupid of Mike to do it in a bar in front of witnesses. Go outside, smack him in the parking lot out back.
does amc stream this?...i've been getting on torrent a day late. (1st world probs i know)
BEAT HIS ASS
ok that was good......so what is mike or gus gonna smooth that over. or is walt gonna realize how lame he is and go back begging for forgiveness.......is sky gonna pay the other dudes debt...dun..dun.dun
Totally agree.
As long as the 200lbs of crystal get delivered each week, I don't see Gus or Mike getting involved in Walt and Jesse's personal dispute. It's certainly not the first time Jesse has said something to the effect of "GET THE FUCK OUT OF MY LIFE FOREVER" to Walt so who knows if he will follow through this time. It definitely looks like Skyler is going to pay off Ted's tax debt, I'm guessing in exchange for him being a "Danny" so she can launder Walt's money through his company.
Wow... salud indeed!
Last week I would have agreed with you. Now I'm not sure Mike will make it to the end of this season - 3 more episodes.
I wonder what type of poison Gus used in the Zafiro Añejo. And what was the antidote in those two pills he ate before Don Eladio came out to the pool?
Holy Shit, He fucked those assholes! When He took the pills by the pool I suspected it was an antidote. Ballsy Mofo
The five month old and I agree that pretty much the only reason Walt´s still alive is that he can tip off Gus/Mike whenever Hank or other members of the DEA approach them. Jesse has shown under pressure that he can make pretty much equal product to that of Walt´s, and is both a team player and likely loyal to Mike/Gus - they treat him like a fellow human being, while Walt is an extravagant asshole, and rather unreliable to boot.
Skyler should just go fucking die.
edit: Ooops, I should read THEN post
I knew Don Eladio looked familiar from somewhere. Finally made the connection last night.
Don Eladio = Manny Ribera from Scarface

What a great episode! Wow.
skyler must die.....and her douche fling guy
maybe those were activated charcoal capsules he took? great episode from start to finish
Holy coup d'etat! Gus is a cold fucker. Great acting. I really liked Jesse's pwn3age of the chemistry snob too.
was mike about to pop jesse in the back of the head just before he got shot? sure looked like it. it will be interesting to see how they get out of mex considering their circumstances, hopefully some adventure, not just VG resetting them back in ABQ.
Jesse's meth came out at 96%. That was high enough to get the cartel excited, but remember from the lab scene in the beginning of the season that Gale could only promise 96% purity and could not reproduce the >99% purity of the sample of Walt’s blue that he had been given. Also remember that Gale told Gus that last 3% was much more significant than it seemed. Jesse has learned well, but Walt’s meth still owns.
Hmmm, I didn't notice that watching it last night but I was so blown away by everything that went down in the last 5 minutes my attention may have slipped and I missed it. I'll watch that scene again tonight.
What an episode!!!!
..........
yeah, I was confused about that 96.2 as well. I thought that maybe it wasn't a purity percentage, but something else. Surely the cartel had tested Walts meth and was expecting similar when Jesse showed up.
You think young Gus was gay for his business partner that the cartel killed?
Skylar is going to ruin everything. I bet Ted Beneke comes begging for more money now that he knows where it came from, then he fails and turns on her to avoid jail.
Gus is obviously gay, he's thin, single, and neat.

Oh, and Ted is SO dead, unfortunately Skylar will be there to the bitter end.
I will be the one party pooper here and say that last episode was getting too Hollywood. At least the action is. One of the things I've always liked about BB is the realism. In the season premier when Gus cut that guy's throat he struggled for a long time - not like in the movies where the guy dies immediately.
I didn't like the Cartel mass poisoning. I find it hard to believe that Gus (and Mike) would go with a plan that has so many variables where so many things could go wrong. And everybody falling over at pretty much the same instant?Jesse's combat calm from his extensive first-person shooter game training? I know if you go for 100% realism in all aspects it's going to end up being a bore, but I expect more from this show.
And yeah - Gus is homosexual. That's been pretty obvious from the beginning.
And yeah - Ted is a douche.
yes but also hector made some snide comments in the previous episode.
and there would have been a small army with tons of automatic weapons to protect all those dons in one place. instead there was like 2 or 3 guys with pistols?
i think vince gill does these things on purpose to keep us guessing.

I've got to disagree on this one. Mike clearly comes up on a target well to the right of Jesse and then swings toward the shooter who ends up hitting him. Besides getting rid of Jesse can be taken care of anytime. Why now?
why is mike raising the gun over the door as he gets in the car? not a natural motion. and he's nowhere looking in the direction of the shooter as he raises it. he only swings past jesse after either catching the shooter in his peripheral vision and/or as a result of the shot.
why now? why not? mike isn't shot at that point. dropping jesse then would be easier than trying to fool him later into a trap. and they don't have to clean anything up.
I'll agree with that to an extent, but it is a TV show after all and it was no worse than two planes colliding directly over Walt's house.
It was certainly a, umm, bold plan, but not too outrageous IMO. Being a slave to the cartel (people he has a seething hatred for) probably sounded worse than death to Gus so he was willing take an enormous risk. Mike was just being a soldier.
Intersting observations about the potential twist of Jessie getting popped. I thought it was going to be Walt who would be getting killed as soon as they got back. With Jessie able to produce 96% pure blue, why do you need the loose cannon around any more? They apparently have other sources for keeping tabs on the DEA.
One other aspect that I thought was interesting was the poison that Gus used: seemed similar to how Walt had described the poison that he had produced for Jessie to use against Gus. Who was Gus' source?
There's a lot more to Gus and his background that we have yet to find out I think. Just what is his history in SA and why the cartel 'respected' him? They better not be building him up for nothing - he's becoming more an enigma than almost all the other characters.
Walt's ricin poison would take quite a bit more time (as he stated); I wonder if they will reveal what poison Gus used.
Never caught the Mike offing Jessie scene - so many angles to the show, almost something every episode are discovered later.
I don't think he was going to shoot Jesse, I think he heard the shooter approaching and was turning his gun in that direction but got hit while doing so. Logistically it wouldn't make sense, either, since they would still want his help at least until they got back across the border. Not to mention, Gus could have easily allowed Jesse to drink the tequila... he was about to.
