Trump's Canada trolling is annoying because it makes annexing Greenland seem like a joke, making it less likely to happen. America should annex Greenland if that's what the people of Greenland want!
If Trump can peacefully convince the inhabitants of Greenland that American sovereignty of Greenland is positive, without causing a conflict, that would be a great accomplishment for any modern president.

So as long as they want a US presence they can get as much US presence as the US wants to put on the ground. If part of the US they don't have the right to say no you are ruining the land or whatever.
