My wife was just told that even though we are moving, her current institution is going to name her to research faculty.
Fuck yeah.
That’s some nice driving, Hoss!

Them Duke boys is at it agin!
did the cop chasing him make it through? Or were they filming a movie.
I had a friend who could tell the story of Goldilocks and the 3 bears whistling. And you could understand every word with the help of hand gestures. Now he's a out of work broke Hollywood screenwriter.
My DIL ran the rim to rim to rim in a day just for fun.
A Justy with a V8 seems like it fits here.

I tried so hard to find a Justicle in my mechanic phase. Damned rare but so capable.

Falling in with a 5 vehicle pack on a freeway yesterday in holiday traffic in far NorCal. The pack moved pretty much w-a-a-a-y over the limit, swapping leads but maintaining a really good pace and threading through the slower drivers (who were only 10-15 over the limit).
For some reason (which doesn’t seem quite as solid today) having half-dozen vehicles barreling along together seemed like some sort of protection against highway patrol pulling all of us over. Anyway, it was fun. I had to peel off when I got to the airport town.
I flew back once from Jackson into Boston right at 5pm on a Friday for a wedding up in VT and was running behind. In one of the better stars aligning moments, I saddled up with an Audi and a couple Suburbans just past Medford and we straight mobbed all the way up to Burlington. We hung real tight and the seas just parted. Had to average close to a 100 the entire way. Maybe it was the black Suburbans that made us look official, but at one point we blew past a Statie just before Hooksett and he clearly just respected the send and let us roll. Fuck yeah.
Usually NH Highway Patrol doesn't fuck around. It must have been your day.
I've tucked in behind fast moving vehicles a few times in the middle of nowhere. I usually drop back half or 3/4 mile so I can keep them in view but am not close enough if they get busted by a speed trap. On a trip from Socal up to Sun Valley through NV one year, and back on I-15 I had the speeders in front of me get pulled over 4-5 times while I cruised on through. F**k yeah, thanks guys!
Teamed up with a Mercedes S550 going from Jackson Hole to Monument, CO (after trying to dust him) doing well over 100 for hours.
I kept on slipping through traffic gaps which close on him.
At one point I see him back there and walk the car up to 135 and I am not causing the gap to grow in the least.
Let off and coast down to about a buck, see the two cops parked coffee talk style in the median.
Stab the brake stay next to the semi and pray.
They never came for me but after that the Merc and I were buddies; we stayed on the same route through Denver.
My typically 9hr trip took 7.75hrs.
ZOOM!
My kids got their first day of the season on Sunday while I'm away at work. Mrs Z said our youngest (6) was the mayor of Arc City, screaming, "This is the best day of my life!!!" ripping down the hill. Fuck yeah.
I just did this exact scenario today for 11 hours from SLC to Goodyear AZ. I had some great company on that drive. Good long distance drivers just know. I had 4 guys today on different legs I hooked up with and we grabbed 2-3 others normally and just hauled ass. And there’s always that guy that loves to run point. I take my turn in front but if you want to step the pace up buddy, lead the way.
When I was commuting to NYC every day I pretty much left around the same time like others. After a while we got to recognizing each other on the 35 mile stretch of mostly wide open 3 laners. When I got the BRZ there were a couple of WRXs and we "found" each other on nasioc and started patting each other on the back. It didn't take long before the ban hammer came down.
Just got word that my property tax appeal hearing could be handled virtually today (instead of trucking it to downtown ATL to get hassled in the County Government Center) if I could make it on zoom in 10 minutes from receiving their email.
Hop on only to find out the County rep that I've been dealing with had already prepared the appeals board with the documentation I provided him and from there it was a rubber stamp to locking in slightly lower property taxes for this year and 2 more.
Fuck yeah.
My daughter sent along a pretty great present. Her best hit in a long time,
