That is a sweet rig for a good price. I just wish somebody would add some style to the minivan body.

I spent a most of the day under my 84 Westy. Shifting problems. Loose and sloppy. While taking a test drive in GTNP it got stuck in first and we hobbled hone. Thankfully it wasn’t too far.
I took apart the shift lever. It was flopping around on the toothed pin coming out of the transmission.

See worn teeth. I was pretty bummed. The spines on the shift pin won’t engage the teeth on the shift lever.

I don’t have a good pic, but I stacked some lock washers against the shoulders of the shift pin and tightened it all up.
Shifting alike a dream. Way smoother than it was before. It looks as if it will be a semi permanent fix.
Are there still good sources for aftermarket parts?
For about twenty minutes I thought my transmission was shot. My lock washer fix will be superseded by an actual repair kit available from several sources. It thought this was a catastrophic event. After some research, it is a pretty common occurrence and an easy fix. Whew!
Parts are everywhere for Vanagons. Easy to get. Chinese are the lowest quality and subsequently the cheapest. Brazilian is the next level up, and German are the best and most expensive.
Any idea what year this is?

unless that Sinka has Safari windows, don't bump into anything! the front bumper will curl up and render the doors inoperable! I'm pretty sure you wont fit thru wing or sliding windows!
Guessing Mid/late 60’s with those signals. Rear window seems a bit small. 64/65?
Thanks bud. This is pre-81 though.

Looks like a 63.
Looks similar to this ‘57 owned by the folks that run the local general store.

Later parking lights and mirrors though.
Are these things really selling in the 40-50k range????
I was thinking 20k.
The one I have runs and drives fine but is kind of a shitbox IMO. Interior needs work. Some rust.
Owner wants all the money. He didn't like my 20k number.
Skip the sweaty and go for a Chevy. A buddy just picked up one like this for $600 on Craigslist.

Jesus thats awesome. I wouldve gone up to 1k on that beast.
Im tasked with selling the VW and Im not familiar. The owner knows even less.
The chassis might be a 64. The engine is probably a rebuilt.

The price of a nice split window Type 2 will blow your mind.
Didn't know know whether to put this in the lager thread, the mountain bike pic thread or the view right now thread. So here it sits.Attachment 237813

I have a Vanagon jump seat if anybody needs one. For free. Located in Jackson.
They are hard to get hold of and we searched for years before one was found. The gang is now older and we don't need it. Some guy gave it to me and I'm looking to pass it on.
