Dumping hard at 7,800'.
Let it Snow!
^fuck the titties!
Will Squaw or Alpine be better tomorrow?
I'm guessing they will probably both be better tomorrow.
Judging by the 2+" on the porch in Tahoe City, I would guess you're right. Maybe one of them will be better than the other though… ;)
doubt that much inbounds terrain will be "better tomorrow" with the serious case of syphilis squaw and alpine are experiencing due to the holiday rapeage. Touring would be the smarter option
My buddy left today and I'm only here two more days, so I'll be at one of the resorts; unless that's an invitation (I do have touring gear and all, but I don't know my way around here).
Remote sensors are showing 6 inches so far at a mountain nearby...hopefully my cable TV install appointment will finish very quickly tomorrow morning
.
^^^^^Murphy tells us cable guy will come at the end of his appointment time, have issues and not have the parts on his truck. Best to say screw it and go ski. You can get the cable fixed in spring.
hmmmmm.........looks like sierra got the best of it down s shore way. real time report of socked in r lake/stevens sooo i'l be in the kwood lineup. hopefully see you fools there
Oh, and there is this too. Quite a few interesting lines looking pretty nicely filled in. If we head into a thaw, that might change. Might be a reason to drive up for a day this weekend.

Any reports from the BC? Thinking of getting some side dish at kwood or bc up by waterhouse / red lake -- curious how the layers are working together.
Royal Gorge is $20/day (holidays) with a core pass - costs $19/season and gets you $10 off a day pass at either RG or Sugar Bowl. Or if you know someone with a season pass at either place they can get you the discount and you can save the $19.
Haven't been there in a while but Kirkwood XC used to be good and has a bunch of deals here. Spooner XC (on the east side) is closed now.

Alpine was stupid good today... best day of the year for me
6-12 inches of blower on top of a nice smooth base
pretty much backcountry skiing with a lift... thanks to everyone for skiing elsewhere
today was how alpine used to be, untracked snow all over the mountain all day
Did my first cartoon land laps of the season today and even though it was completely untracked there was a funky crust underneath that didn't exist anywhere else on the mountain... still well worth the hike!
^^^ Evidently you were not at Alpine on Dec 26th, when there was 4X the snow, with no crusty base and almost nobody skiing. Alpine actually looked pretty raped to me for a Thursday minor pow day today when I arrived fashionably late. Granted I did not do any hiking today as I was coughing pink spew. I had to work a bit to find freshies but still managed.
echo summit shuttle resort has been amazing the last few weeks. Today was good & our group were the only ones out. Lapping all day tomorrow also, other than the piss test I have to take for a new job.
I'm at Alpine right now and it's been snowing (lightly, but looks like a few inches at least since the resort closed) for the last few hours. Tomorrow may actually be pretty decent - I had low expectations.
