Ganz Genau
depends on the system and which service the ski area opts for at every lift.
They can make pics and compare them at every lift, they can measure the height and compare.
In Ch that might be allowed, in EU you can opt out on all of that (which almost nobody does) - but it might not work with seasonal tickets. I know in Tirol it works, yet you have to get another ticket at every entry and the sales person might not know/do that service. They might check your id card manually when requesting that.
Usually only the big ressorts have the expensive cams + features at their few main lifts only.
what happens is, they take your card, check it at their ipad/computer. sometimes they ask some questions (where you skied last etc), they also want you ID card. The pass usually is pulled for the day, and you can get it back with your id at the main office/where you bought it.
they do take passes away.
officially the big ressorts are against people switching tickets, especially those parents skiing with their kids. someone went on court or wanted, but dont know what happened. smaller resssorts are usually fine with those parental ticket thiefs ;)
am i good to say there's some incoming further East this time subtle plague?

I got fined 200 Swiss a few years ago for skiing on a day pass that my wife had used in the morning. I’d been looking after the baby, she’d been skiing with the toddler; after lunch she took the toddler home and I went for a run or two. Computer picked it up based on their cameras on the lift turnstile. Hadn’t occurred to me it wasn’t allowed.
The lift company staff got pretty heavy about it. Zero sense of humour. I got dragged to a windowless room in the base station and - I shit you not - had bright lights pointed at me and was interrogated by some arsewipe in an all black military style uniform. I offered to surrender the pass, or buy another. “No,” they said, “we want thieves like you to pay. 200 francs or we’ll have you arrested”.
I’m 90% sure that if my wife had been skiing in the afternoon she’d have got off with a bollocking.
Not uncorrect.
Verbier. You’re probably not wrong; I had a big beard and my jacket at the time was more duct tape than goretex. And I was legging it up the stairs because I was late but, to the Televerbier Stasi, it probably looked like I was trying to evade retribution.
The Weekend should see the first official powderguide alert because it won't rain to 3000m right afterwards. [emoji3]
Up to a Meter of fresh.
how far east will it get smashed?

Looking good up high here. The weekends snow should get the lower elevations going too! Gotta say I’m pretty stoked, and I really try and keep my expectations low the last few years!

The reality while skiing switch to the road
well done Twat, where are/were you? I know its not Mammoth ;-)
Yeah right! Place called “Kühtai“ about an h from Innsbruck where I am based. Nice touring of the road/pass.
Lifts gonna start spinning in a week. Place got south and north face with plenty of hiking touring options. Always 90%west wind over the pass. Super sunny! Doesn’t catch much snow compared to other places. Nice family resort. Never busy during the week.
todays summit „hochaltar“ southface.
