Looking good! Those stairs are awesome.

I built a queen size bed frame with beatle kill headboard. It's my first ever woodworking project-

Before staining-

Not 100% stoked on the color. I initially wanted the bed to be a mid tone brown/ gray color, but couldn't bring myself to cover up the blue color in the beatle kill wood.

Nice work. Now you just gotta stress test it.

ServePro quoted me something like $1,800 to put down new plastic in my crawl space. Tight squeeze on one end, and a bunch of shit stored there that had to be moved around while doing the job. Went to Lowes and bought a 100'X12' roll for $60 and spent the day crawling around there doing it my fucking self. Didn't take any photos of the before and after, but did snap a photo of the side job i always end up doing with every project like this.. Bashed my damned head on a floor truss right on a fucking cable staple. Would have been really nasty if I hadn't been wearing a hat. 3 hours crawling around like a dog and a little blood saved a ton of cash.

Oh, and when I pondered the possibility of fire ants and copperheads possibly being down there in the crawl space, mrs jong suggested I take my cell phone in case I needed to call for help being home alone and all. Well, of course when I was almost halfway done, taking a break to drink some cold water I discovered my phone was no longer in my pocket. Used the house phone (also a cell) to call it and find it right in the middle of the biggest section already covered hahahaha! Wasn't that hard to get it but I was a bit freaked out over the thought if having to pull it all up if I wasn't able to hear it ring when I called it.

I'd say the blood, sweat and tears were worth it... Whaddaya gonna get yourself with that $1,740?

Treated in what way? A quick Google search doesn't turn up much info for the need to treat the wood.

I bought the 1x6s at Home Depot. Have no idea if they were treated in any special way.

Treated to make sure the beetles don’t have a reunion tour in your bedroom basically the wood is steamed or chemically treated to make sure larve don’t hatch

I guess I don't know what beetles killed that wood but the blue stain likely means Pine beetle. Pine beetles are a bark beetle they live between the cambium layer and the bark. When you remove the bark the larvae and/or eggs are exposed to the sun and killed. The first step in most mills is a debarking machine. Any commercially purchased lumber is generally kiln dried to temps that would kill insects.

Thanks. It's pine beetle. I definitely didn't come across any insects while cutting, drilling pocket holes or sanding. I think I'll be ok.

Yah it’s kiln dried - beetles won’t take the baking. Not sure about Beatles though. They seem baked a lot.
