Seen a pretty big river otter about a month ago on the Potomac river.
One of maybe two sightings in 40+ years of time on the water.
Pretty kewl.
Saw what I initially thought was a weird bushy tailed coyote trying to cross the road next to my house the other evening. Looked like a fox, but was gray, not red. Well, a little googling and I discovered there is such a thing as gray foxes! So that’s what it was. And this thing was big, about the size of a coyote but with a long bushy tail going straight back from the body. Probably scouting out our chicken coop.
Our neighbor has spotted a large bobcat outside her house. She thinks it’s responsible for killing several fawns last spring.

Mini tarantula. Guy could comfortably sit on a nickel with his feet barely touching the edges.

We have grey foxes here, less common than the red variety.
Nice arachnid.
I hear they can be people friendly but can not bring myself to get that close.
Several years ago some foxes denned up in my nextdoor neighbor's back yard and had a littler of like 6 or 8 pups. 2 of them were black and the rest red. It was super cool to look out in the back yard at first light to see them running and jumping and playing back there.
Sadly, as a result of an outbreak of mange The country wildlife officials began culling foxes in our area shortly after that and their populations still haven't rebounded but we still see a few here and there, especially in the spring.
Just missed either Bobby, Bobbette or Non-binary Bob the neighborhood Bobcat on their daily mission today.

Constant battle with the squirrels attacking the bird feeder. Slingshot doesn't quite cut it. They even wandered within ten feet of this goshawk chowing down on one of their brethren the other day. Buggers!

Red foxes are not always exactly timid. Attachment 488313
I wasn't feeding her. She somehow got obsessed with my camelback nozzle and kept trying to steal it. Had some kits, in some bushes nearby.
This guy swung by for a visit this morning.

Saw the first two sneks of the season the other day.
Gopher snake that was injured. It was barely moving and was found right next to the trail. Probably got ran over by a MTB on the trail.

A bit later saw a California king snake. Which means the rattlesnakes are also coming out (they eat rattlers).
