On the optimistic side of things, the last true el nino year we had (2005?) February was the shit.
Printable View
Yeah, I remember that year. There was ZERO precip from mid-Jan to mid-Feb. Then it dumped for a while.
As some have said, looks like a good chance of snow for the weekend.
2005 was almost no snow from around the end of first week of January to the 2nd week of march. Only about 50 inches between Jan and Feb that year, then 100 inch March. 2007 was the year of shit December, record dry Jan, then great Feb climaxing with 30 inches March 1st with no snow the rest of that month. I try and keep track of this shit for when the alzheimers starts kicking in. Every year is sure to be different, that is the only thing I can predict.
Edit: still some pow out there but pretty much got all cleaned up by this afternoon.
What I like to see.

Winter Storm Watch...
*SNOW ACCUMULATIONS: 4 TO 8 INCHES ARE POSSIBLE AT LOWER ELEVATIONS WITH UP TO TWO FEET OF SNOW IN THE MOUNTAINS*
of course this is the weekend i chose to take my level 1 avi class...
Tone you dig any pits out there? How did it feel as far as the "spooky" factor?
Sounds like things are getting better, but still a little scary for sure.
and just to hit on what fez said I am leaving for phoenix this weekend. Its raining cats and dogs there and just looking at latest hpc page we are going to get smacked. On behalf of fez and I you are welcome.
Acceptable conditions for the time being on the higher northeast terrain which seems to have the strongest snow. I wouldn't trust much of a load on it now, even less so on southeast aspects which are much more variable and generally crappy. Still skiing as conservatively as humanly possible while still trying to have some fun. Fast and light and away from the worst of the terrain traps. To add to that, I witnessed all kinds of "impacts" to the snow out there last couple days. I think the weaknesses are pretty dormant right now, but expect that we will go through another cycle with the next storm.
We navigated as carefully as possible on some steeper treed terrain further out today and found pretty much the same, excepts that the lower elevation terrain out that way was more like the snowpack to the south. About three feet of supportable snow on a layer of weak facets. Would not trust steep rollovers there with more snow right now.
Would love to get out on some of this. Still uneasy about getting brave there.

it's starting. I expect nothing short of awesomeness tomorrow
Horseshit. Bridger is only going to get 2-4 inches. Everyone shut the fuck up.
^^^Are you trying to reverse jinx the weather?
I'll try too. Looks and sounds like it's gonna spin up into central and eastern MT and leave us with some bullshit pixie dust.
But doesn't Bridger often get slaughtered when everyone else is high and dry? No sympathy here ;)
I'm bringing my park skis tomorrow. ;)

need some skiwork done check bill out at baseshots next to the bozone brewery on n wallace
order up only what you want done, then go next door and order up a few brews...
to be clear & not some kinda cunning linguist
.the biz's are not related
.the bozone tasting room is only open a couple hrs a night- 3beer limit
.it's prob not realistic to think the repair will be done while you quaff them brewskis
Well, I've been know to have a soft spot for such things as well.Quote:

Beautiful plaque by the way, haven't seen it. Didn't know Kevin but heard he was the greatest guy ever.
Cool about your friends shop there, I'll definetly be checking in there once all the shark teeth are covered up under pixie dust again.
Stoked about that repair shop idea. Really cool.
Was up there today for a few hours. Decent, getting better. Some soft turns to be had and some boilerplate/rocks to be found as well.
And tone, I guess I never made the connection that you might be tony... are you? If so, sorry I bailed on you the other day but I was only up for a run or two. Lets go skiing next week.
Hey tone thanks for pointing us in the right direction out south on Wednesday.
No worries at all man we all have different schedules. We should eventually meet up for a mission though.Quote:

not even out of the country yet and you bastards got a powder day. I'll be expecting beers when i get back!
Damn. After a rowdy night of drinking and god only knows what else the first thing I did this morning when I realized I had made it home and was alive was check the report. All I have to say is your welcome again.
Not even the endless parade of big fakeones and thoughts of possibly landing a real sugar momma in otown scottsdale makes thinking about the goods I'm missin out on any more bearable.
Telemarc let's go with the flock shootin plan and get this rolling!
I hate all of you.
Today did not suck.
