I’m looking forward to the new movie this morning
Wow. Polar Star is absolutely fantastic, my friend.
And badly protected mixed climbing is not on my bucket list.
Resisting the urge to watch it over lunch -- will be at the show tonight in my neighborhood, excited to see it.
Salomon, how are you not having a QST film stop in Ogden? It's your US Headquarters for crissakes....
“How the fuck do we do this?” [emoji23]
Could be the tagline for the whole series.
Great film again
Great flick!
Though I wanna know: how much did the big plane cost?
Cody forgets to buckle his boots sometimes too!
Celebrities really ARE just like us.
Congrats Cody. That's a really strong film. I loved the voice over. I heard echos of Stump and Miller (in a good way), especially when you were talking abiout Vivian.
I need to watch again without a four year old asking a million questions: "Are they going to fall?" "Are they scared?" "Who is the best one?" "Are they better than you?"
That was fantastic. I need to watch again and write down the best Vivian quotes. There were some gems.
For those that are too lazy to search for it, here is Cody's newest. I didn't understand how it could be 45 minutes long after they knocked off Polar Star in the first 10 minutes, but as usual there is much more to the story. This is incredible.

Excellent job. I have enjoyed every episode so far but I think you really set a new standard this season. I’m gonna try to remember to add “bon ski” to mine and my sons’ vocabulary now. No more “have a good run” to strangers on the chairlift. From now on it’s “bon ski”
bon ski my friends. amazing.
wow Cody
that’s a fkn amazing ski movie
I love the skiing and the filming and the storytelling and the fkn stoke
bravo Monsieur!
Thanks Cody. I feel like going on a small adventure now.
I know. If one of Cody's purposes for this project was to create stoke in oneself to get outside and do something - tick.
This episode was the best. I know many others were incredible but for me I had a feeling that I was watching Cody learn, and also witnessing CT be blown away by an insanely gifted mountain athlete at the top of his/the sports' game.
Great insights into Vivian as well. Just all round amazingess in subject, skiing, storytelling. This thing should win some awards.
I did feel that Vivian could extend his right arm further downhill on pole plants but that aside, the skiing was OK.
You guys are getting really fucking good at this.
Looking forward to the future projects after you check off the big five o. Wow.
that left me with a big smile on my face and warm fuzzy feelings on a cold night! Kudos!
The evolushun is coming along nicely.
Bonski!
Probably the mountain why as well. The biking all the way to Washington sounds rough.

'Northstar' episode acknowledged ;
pm to follow -
Thank you for this project. skiJ
I'll second the motion that you crushed the narration on this one.
I too had Warren Miller vibes, which is about as high of a compliment as there is.
Episode was amazing. Ive been watching alot of Baffin skiing content over the past year and its made it a solid place on my bucket list. This episode captured the awesomeness of the venue well.
Thats amazing you got to spend that much time with Viv also. definitely someone to look up to. love his attitude and joy when it comes to being outside. though thats prolly more leading mixed climbing on skinny ropes than i ever want to do haha. (possible shoutout to omega link cams??)
kudos on the film and the adventure man!

An absolute beauty of an episode.
I also loved that ticking off the Polar Star was done in the first couple of minutes and then you moved on to the rest of the trip.
Vivian seems like an absolute bad ass. I started following him on the socials after you started tagging him in the posts leading up to this episode.
Bon ski!
Amazing video all the way around. Agreed on Viv being awe inspiring. Super refreshing after the shit fliging directed at the mostly dead Cham crew.
Agree. An absolutely amazing episode. Incredible job, Cody.
Funny - I had the same thought at first too, but the close call with the rockfall ended up giving me the opposite reaction. The thought of dying in some random couloir while isolated in the middle of Baffin, when your family is so incredibly far away, just seemed really...lonely and sad. Of course, that's just me and my current stage of life and not at all a critique of Cody's endeavor. It's just a sign he made a kick-ass film. Making me feel feelings and shit.
great video
random gear dork question:
seems like all of you guys were using a mix of mountain harwear packs and rarely used any of the hyperlite ones... what was the thinking there?
also am I crazy or were you guys swapping packs? It seemed like there were parts of Fiesta where Viv had an alpine light and also parts where he was wearing a snowskiwoski
great movie
I'll say more about why I compared the voice over to Miller and Stump:
The phrasing, pacing and intonation made me think Cody had been studying the two masters before or while he worked on this one. It just sounds like ski narration is supposed to sound, even if the content is nothing like what Miller or Stump would talk about. He draws on the tradition while being entirely himself. Also, Miller and Stump were the voices of the ski world, at least in the USA, and I'm hopeful that Cody is trending in that direction too. We need his depth, passion and humility more than we need endless bro-speak or the Red Bullization of skiing.
I mean, how many times can I think "best one yet"? That was spectacular and the mood was infectious.
Well thank you all for the positive words on the film and especially the WM comparison on the narration. Funny enough, I’ve always felt like I sucked at narration as it’s very very hard and have felt like I sucked at it in the past. Honestly, what I tried to channel in my voice and narration was speaking from a place of authority but in the tone of talking to a friend, with then slowing down when describing the setting, adding some up and down rhythm when talking about Viv and speeding up the pace during the rockfall to add tension. I luckily got a really good mic set up for my home office this year and got to do it alone, listen, learn, adapt and try again quite a lot. I’m just happy it ended up working and being liked…I generally thought it was like just okay. Fuck, now the next time I hope I can remember how to do it again!
