13/14 Tahoe Thread -- Raddest Thread On The Internets!!!

Squaw was really fun on Saturday - much less of a shitshow than I was expecting aside from the doofus who went off the road backing up traffic for miles. Got to KT at 9:30 and there was no lift line and still fresh tracks on the other side of the Banzai course. Heavy but really fun with big skis.

Went up to ski Tamarack for the first time yesterday - wow! It was snowing lightly and foggy the entire way up, had some of the best turns of my season into the hourglass bowl. Much much lighter snow and amazing turns all the way down to the skintrack. Totally worth my car busting a coolant hose and having to get towed back down to incline!

I have finished the rough draft of the "bonus pts" section with kirkwood specific bonuses and may add/remove one or two more eg. add "hand out 10 bags of granola in the line up on a pow day" instead of the classic redbull deal, replaces jumping ropes.

Anyways, what i am having trouble with is naming the lines and the scores to go along with it(first page). this is my first year at Kwood, and i was hoping for some help from you folks. Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I suggest spending the next 10-12 months drooling over 666'ers vimeo page. He has basically written the guide book (or video) with the names of runs at Kirkwood.

How true. Although, in Squallywood, the pictures are still and third person. You actually have to have skied the line to get the names from 666. And skied them quickly an efficiently.

Fuddruckers. Where to go tomorrow. Thinking Sugar bowl will be manky with the warm (as will sierra) and need a good "groomer" hill for pops to shake the cobwebs off his 19 year layoff--which leaves the wood as a no go.

Wonder if we should hit the heave? How's the snow up top anyone?

base camp pizza is not bad. not cheap but great atmosphere good pizza and good draft selection.

Base Camp has some really good food, sit at the bar between 2 & 6 for food & drink specials

^^^ Concur. I believe it's the same, or somehow related, ownership as Fireside Pizza at Squaw. Garlic chips are exactly the same, for sure. Which is a good thing. Solid beer selection, as well, like PD said.

Ottime how's the duke riser doing this morning? Hope it's shaking off the hang over. The injury was pretty severe though.

I've never seen so many people at the Wood as were there on Sat. Sunday looked similar but never made it inside the ropes to confirm. The times, they are a changin.

Sunday was as big of a shit show, if not bigger than Saturday as 4 was closed for winds (per my buddy who took a ride up caples crest at around noon).

Apparently they parked 2700 cars on Saturday.

Shit show? 10AM, the line in looked like this. Video would have looked basically the same.

Hoping the Duke gets a warranty. Still kind of shocked how warped that steel got. I must be getting fat. Talked to the local shop today. Guy sounded clueless, but very positive. Will bring it in tomorrow. Looks like I need to mount that second Kusala and tour light this coming Saturday. Having a beer with Schralph, I kind of got excited for clear weather and a CP2KW stroll. Anyone up for an early start?

What struck me about KW on Sunday was how crowded it was considering the powder had been tracked out the day before, it was windy, 33F and kind of precipitating. Neither a powder day nor a bluebird day after day. I did four laps inbounds at the end of the day. Had fun, but mostly because I skied right on to the lift. Parked cars all the way to 88.

Could be interested in KW2CP... Or vice versa.

Rose(Tamarack) delivered again today, the snow as a little heavier, but still outstanding. Lets hope those temps stay cold! Snowing with wind at the parking area when I left at 4pm.

We saw the blood where the dog was hurt, then sar at the bottom, then the dog carried.

Bad luck, but the dog had the best care possible.

Wet snow falling at 80/20 intersection. At least a few inches at the top of the pass. Very wet snow/ rain and 33 in truckee.
Hope snow levels drop more tonight.

i remember 2nd day out this year i felt the tail of my skis hit nacho in a short turn then looked back to see him doing a 3 legged spaz slide down the hill behind me. i freaked out but when he got to me it turned out his front leg was stuck inside his jacket

Damn, hope the dog is ok! I saw the rescue people getting geared up around 12:30-1pm. Very comforting to know that they are willing to do that for a dog (as a dog owner).

Poor guy.

Anyone going to kirkwood today? I'm on the way down from Squaw. Blue trew jacket, super 7s, brown helmet.

24 hour report is 8 inches there was snow all the way down and 5700 feet but not much so I'll say it's snain low. Snow high but again it looks like there a maintenance holds on some of the key Lifts.

Headwall, chief, and Kt tomorrow then I hope. Anyone want to join from me to carpool from EDH/Folsom area? I do have to stop at Sierra first to get my board, so leaving super early to be at Squaw on time while doing the west shore traverse. Otherwise might just be lazy and do Sierra. I have comps for Sierra if you give me some notice.
