You can’t make a great latte because you saw a picture of one on the internet.
We have family in town that are baffled by the whole thing. My brother and sister in law were given trouble at Little America because even though they are married and have licenses with a matching address, they don’t have the same last name. SIL was profiled at the bar for being latina. Get fucked, Utah.
We did the Central 9th crawl last night.
Scion Cider is very good. They have a huge cider list including pear cider, coferments, and pommeau. Is Elisabeth a magette or associated with the board in some way? Definitely worth a stop if you haven’t been, they allow outside food so Central 9th Market sandwich and a bottle of cider would be a standout lunch.
The Pearl was the best bar we went to last night. Good bar food and great drinks. The menu cocktail I had was great, my fernet and soda was made by someone that actually has a clue. We tried all of the shareables and everyone was happy.
Bar Nohm was a major disappointment. The food was well executed but expensive and nothing exciting for the price. My wife wanted the chicken and then commented on feeling tricked when what she got was essentially chicken tenders with a chili sauce on the side. We tried a menu drink and it was garbage. Nice to get bottles of sake, they can’t fuck that up. Wish they offered ceramic cups in addition to glass. The interior remodel was attractive.
Water Witch was the letdown of the night. Both bartenders were coked out of their minds. My wife’s whiskey sour was an over diluted mess. My brother was surprised how bad the drinks were compared to what we were routinely served in Bozeman when he visited almost a decade ago. He is regularly a Coors Light drinker and even he noticed that the bartenders were shaking for show instead of proper dilution. Our families were surprised when we told them WW is one of the better cocktail bars in town. Previous good experiences had been with a single bartender and he has since left.
