That reminds me of a patient I had once who came to have his heel pain treated. When I asked him what brings on his symptoms, he said it was when 'they' beam the laser and radar down from the satellites. There was a conspiracy against him in the 1960s where 'they' implanted 3 chips in his head (which allow 'them' to hear his thoughts verbatim) which concentrate the rays and direct them down through his body and into his heel.

He wasn't bald but he used to bring me Werther's originals.

Incidentally, I used a cunning and effective treatment intervention to cure the problem. Ultrasound therapy to the heel to block the laser and radar. Bloody worked, an' all!

Apologies that this has nothing to do with snow/skiing/Euros etc.

Cool your boots, man. There were seasons with no snow before Xmas in the 70s, 80s and 90s. And probably before that too. Doesn't seem like anything new going on to me (although the frustration does seem to be reaching new heights).

That was a nice power-eject-from-the-turn digger at 1:47 Davidof. :) Any advice/hunches on a target for a week's time? On the basis of your report I was planning on just trying to find somewhere high. I booked my holiday from work but am totally at a loss as to where might be decent beyond that... Drizzle in town when i got up this morning. But this morning was my first chance at official lift served skiing. Pulled into the Grand montets parking lot and it's bluebird. Everyonew else skied yesterday and saw the forecast so didn't turn up.

Waiting to use a screwdriver (the chain them to the wall here) I was spotted by a guy woth Lime green boots, skis and jacket who identifiys himself as Arno.

Up we go to see if there is anything left. Aure enough the upper part of the bochard piste is a bit of a mess, but otherwise things are looking up. Most of the area looks skiable. Anyway one piste run to get rid of the cobwebs and back up.

Walking out the door we run into BritishAirborne and the tree of us brave the rocks and head ointo the Pendant Bowl. Sure there is lots of rocks but there are also quite a few pockets of pow

Arno 2nd run on new skis, boots and dynafits.

There is less snow in the trees than last year, but more high up becasue it hasn't blown away. Dream forest was a nice and untracked ski dispite the thin coverage.

This frustrating start to the european winter has even made it to the BBC.....

Was up Grand Montets yesterday, as Idris said there are some pretty nice pockets of pow to be found... and lots of rocks poking out or just below the surface too. All things considered still enjoyable though.

Krippenstein still needs tons of new snow to be in condition ...
However, at the glaciers above the Krippenstein at least some skiing is possible ... albeit the snow quality is far from being promising (very crusty due to recent storms)

sorry, that was me. don't worry, i'm still hopeful that a new little ice age will kick in soon. ;)

pretty sketchy conditions in leysin on saturday, two runs open with thin ultra hard pack. offpiste was pretty fun working my way thru the maze of bushes. at least i could make turns instead of just altering my sideslip edge down the piste. we bailed for lunch, and decided to finish up the day at the glacier. very good conditions found at 3000m, and a bonus - they have doubled the Quille piste and are working on extending the Tsanfeuron. snow is in excellent condition on and offpiste. no crowds to be found anywhere either. really, not a bad day at all.
