Yeah buddy. Feels good to suffer a bit.

Yeah that sucks about zwifthub but good on that guy. Any disappointment I have is directed towards zwift for making it necessary to go to a website like this.
I too treated the two routes of the Tour as races yesterday - feeling it in my legs today.
I got caught up in beating some twit named bob in the TOW Stage 1 - that, combined with an epic powder ski morning has my legs feeling it for sure. Just wanting to let Dee know that he has a chance tonight....
That’s what that metallic, alkaline taste is?
Both routes of Stage 1 TOW yesterday, 7” of fresh this morning, I’m still willing to get that blood taste in my mouth tonight!
GR did you actually get an invite for the ride? [emoji48]

That’s the lactic acid
It’s Vail, there is only so much camera tilting I can do! 40+ degrees, but I’m not calling out a ski off.

I see trees. You better cut your pole straps 95% of the way through so they can tear away if they get caught.
I think I’ll see you guys Thursday instead of tonight. Played a full outdoor soccer game Sunday afternoon, after which my lovely wife convinced me to go snowshoeing by full moon...for three hours. Couldn’t walk yesterday. Slightly better today but not much.
The moral: snowshoeing sucks and is always a bad choice. As we all already knew.
please offer up a plea to Ullr in the appropriate thread after your unwise decision and unfaithfulness. fuckin' misery slippers!
Great ride tonight. 8 guys working hard.
Kudos to the group of 4 that bridged back to the front group.

Tonight’s riders, in order of the photo:
lowagriz (T.A.)
Bennymac
F.Trucker
D.PDX
Dee Hubbs
Wendigo
GR
The Suit (F.S)
Super good ride, lots of hard pedaling, great hair, and witty banter out there. Had a nice battle with D.Pdx for 5th place... I pushed hard to catch him and bennymac, got past D.Pdx, then he attacked, then I pulled past him again, and then he ultimately took it. I lost but it wasn't for lack of trying, I was licking that battery from the bottom of the hill to the line on lap 3. Strong work by everyone, I think that's the fastest I've done all three laps... I had 46 and change when I crossed the line.

Dee - once again I owe you a beer for the right words to keep me going, and for the wheel to suck back onto the group. You are a good man. Same for the other words of encouragement. Looked like a strong battle to the finish up front. Group sprint at the end?

Thats why I like these rides, we are here to have fun and get a little workout, and help each other out. That was a tough push to get back to the front. I figured I burnt too many matches for the last climb....
I'll let GR give you the play by play...... :fmicon:
Burning matches?! I like to just throw the whole matchbook in the fire...

I was trying but failing at keeping myself in check to save my legs for hockey - zwift makes it hard to not race even if it's not for first!
I had my camera on rear view on the last flat to the finish and was able to watch in fear as FT and DP gained steadily like terminators and then left me in their dust to battle it out amongst themselves.
Super fun to be "in the mix" even though "the mix" was for 4th-6th place or whatever. When you two blew past me up the Leg Snapper / Battery Licker climb with feathers on I'm like "Not today, Satan!" and vowed I would reel you both back in. Fuck, that hurt though. Hilarious that you had the rear view on watching that unfold, bennymac.
Oh, and Zwift decided the effort was strong enough that my FTP must have increased by 11 w/kg... Good times.
EDIT TO ADD: These rides have been awesome. I'm seeing actual, real-world gains in fitness that even my IRL ride partners have noticed. When I started with this group I was minutes behind on lap 3, now I'm much closer to the leaders and even hanging with a few people. It's encouraging to see results, and not having it feel like "training" per se. And everyone on the rides is awesome: there's plenty of shit-talking but there's also encouragement when needed. Good group. Thanks for being open to people of all fitness level joining, and thanks for keeping it organized, Dee!
that was a fun ride. you jerks just couldn't let me have it could you! - hah
i was hoping you would catch me sooner so i could recover (yeah right - zone 5 from the hill on) for the finish.
i still suck in the flats - just like real life.
ft good to hear this is transferring to real world results for you!
Totally agree! "From each according to his ability," Marx must have biked. I don't care if I'm trying to win (don't think that will ever be a concern with this ride) or fighting for 9th of ten riders, as long as someone pushes me until I'm thoroughly miserable, I'm having fun. Road biking is so weird.:D
yup funny how even zwift can create that competitiveness. TOW... 799th place is SO much better than 800th and who cares about the legs and lungs screaming to make that happen??
^^It makes me feel like a dog chasing a ball to utter exhaustion. Some deep mammalian fight or flight instinct surfaces and we can't help it lol
Stage 2 looks mean. Titans grove start followed by Epic KOM radio tower climb. I guess you get a good rest back to the flats and hang on to the finish
