anyone got any beta on engelberg or andermatt for the coming weekend?
i'm curious to what the snow is like and what may be open.
all i know, andermatt needs a little more than 140 cm to be really enjoyable. it was a fun day, but rather from a little childs perspective who enjoys an adventures day out in nature..

the glacier is still closed, btw.
engelberg was supposed to be really good on sunday and monday. steinberg has a handful of tracks already, but it's not recommended to anyone who doesn't know the glacier blindfolded. laub has been skied too and must have been great.
it's getting warm this weekend, so i wouldn't recommend engelberg or andermatt. the few goods have been harvested and the snow will be more than mediocre.
I live in Leysin, thus homecourt = Leysin.
I was called last night and informed.
I was trying to go to Glacier, but rumors of waste deep runs to the village convinced me to stick around Leysin.
I did ski to the village, once.
I don't reccommend it yet.
Otherwise, the 4 minute round trip run on the Berneuse was pretty good.

For the Verbier Mags: heard Mont fort is opening saturday, 50cm pow....
hmmmm, its definitely a possibility. most everything opens this saturday so there's a lot to choose from. :)
fwiw, i got this from engelberg tourism:
artificial snow! wooohooo! :rolleyes2Quote:
On the glacier, the lifts and slopes are daily open.
We plan to open the slope Jochpass - Trübsee this Thursday and on Friday, we'll open Stand - Trübsee.
The snow conditions haven't been so good for this time of year, we had a very warm and mild November. Now finally the temperatures are dropping and we're also able to make artificial snow (good ground layer and helpful additionally to the natural snowfall).
It won't take long now, than we'll be able to open all slopes.
great news! it won't snow anymore! NEVER.
(well not in the next 10 days+)
fuck it. i wonder how many weeks this will go on.
That's a worry. We're coming out to Vaujany on 22nd.
Please snow, please snow, please snow, please snow, please snow, please snow, please snow, PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEESE!!
what i learned yesterday:
1. there is enough snow to make skinning up easier than bootpacking. at least sometimes. like when there are no rocks. or bushes. or ice.
2. there is not enough snow to make skiing down easier than bootpacking. unless there are bushes. in that case you can kick turn your way down. woohoo!
nice morning anyway.

I tried my new skis on the carpet yesterday - it will therefore not only not snow, but actually melt, exposing rocks buried deep in glaciers, all targeted at my virgin bases.
Sorry. :(

Dammit, Edg! Can't you get a brillo pad to them or something?
