I signed up for Venmo maybe 10 years ago. Never used it, but planned to. A week later I got notified that there was a $10k transfer into my account. I spent a night thinking of what to properly do with that. Next day there was a $10k withdrawal. Never touched it since. Paypal has been just fine with me for decades.
Venmo is being flaky as fuck. Apparently the entry yesterday that actually went through was an anomaly because it's back to saying there was an issue with my payment, please try again later.
