Dermatologists FTW, IMO.
No one really expects to get an appointment right away, you call your office hours, and *most* of what you see or treat is a precursor to immediate danger for the clients.
Yeah, saw a WSJ article about how dermatologists are the current hot job in medicine:
https://www.wsj.com/lifestyle/career...ctors-174cfe53
Makes sense. Good hours, calm practice, don't need to deal with hospitals, and a huge growth in profitable cosmetic procedures...can get that "make me pretty" cash without being a surgeon now.
Dentists are still going to be more ubiquitous though. I think the reason dentist bike is a trope is that they are a high paid, stable-schedule career that exists EVERYWHERE.
They don't make hedge fund money, but they actually have time to ride bikes and they don't have to live in the NYC metro....everybody needs a dentist, people don't want to travel far for twice a year cleanings, and therefore every random town or suburb with a few thousand people has several dentists.
You need about 1 dentist per 1500 people vs 1 dermatologist per 30k so there's always going to be one on the group ride.
My dentist is pretty good, he lives really well up here and i don't begrudge him the money
consumables stock up for next season :
3 sets of koolstop pads for the guides
a minion DHR II in double down
X01 chain
SDG Tellis seatpost rebuild kit
In spite of the Can post strike I still managed to get it all in 2 parcels from Canada with free shipping eh
Wasn't sure where to put this, but this thread seemed appropriate.... if anyone's looking for a ridiculous deal on Reserve carbon wheels:
https://www.mtbr.com/threads/reserve...#post-16402217
Dang.
That's a screaming deal.
I bought some off brand carbon wheels with dt350 hubs this fall through my local shop for ~$1000 which I've been happy with so far.
But Dang.
If i had the funds, I'd pick up a set just in case.
Got a road frame coming at some point soon. Think i have everything i need to put it together. last couple bits:
Attachment 510466
Attachment 510467
I found that sale the other day. Ordered a rear wheel for the Spur, 30mm wide 29er wheel with DT 350 hub. Perfect timing as I'd been looking for deals on rear wheels because the Stans hub on my current wheel has been acting up. This was cheaper than any AL wheel I'd found with the same hub and specs.
That is a solid deal. Fucking Canadian dollar is so brutal it kills the deal unfortunately

Magura is having a 20% off sale and it does combine with the pro deal if anyone has that

My son gave me this shock. Just had it rebuilt and now the tuning part comes in...which I find to be difficult. So many adjustments. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...373cbf0192.jpg
Trekked all the way to Hayden to pick up this bad Betty. The mental gymnastics involved in justifying could easily land me on the podium at the next Olympics. But we're all going to hell in a hand basket anyway, so f*** it. NBD. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...354d028147.jpg

looking to pick up a new trail bike this spring.
GT Sensor deals on Jenson are kind of wild,
Giant has the Trance Advanced X for a crazy good price but I dont know if I want flight attendant or live valve.
any shop dudes have inventory in a large 29er, 140ish rear travel, performance elite grip 2 or lyric?
I've got a lightly-used V2 Sentinel (large) that will be listed pretty soon for sub-$3k... Carbon GX build w/ a Cane Creek Helm and Kistuma Air front and back.
Replaced rear tire with same. Continental Kryptotal-Re 27.5 X 2.4" Enduro Soft, had 1300mi on it. Could have stayed on for 4-500 more. Impressive durability, prob 50% more life than Maxxis DHRs used previously, and virtually same grip. Krypt is faster rolling too.
Yeah my gut feeling is that Conti Soft lasts 3x as long as MaxxTerra, and Super Soft lasts 2x as long. I even run Super Soft in the rear because there's not really any downside to it.

This one is real tempting, top end suspension, gx mech, good tires.
I have a former coworker who’s working at GT and they are all terminated in May, so no support for frame or parts after then, though.

Andeh, Ur certainly not wrong. I am a cheap ass, I admit. I have finally overcome trying to get the last 10% of life out of a rear tire, tolerating a few rear end washout crashes that result from it. Now I break down and replace the tire before those crashes. Still feel guilty about it though LOL.
But the Conti's wear so well, I think a super soft is in the cards next time. I already bought this soft rear so had to use it up, but it lasts so long the thought of more grip with a SS is inviting. I already run SS/Maxxgrip in front, but appears I'm doing the rear now too LOL.
At Phall Cannondale will have GTs stock of replacement frames and small parts and will be handling warranty for GT moving forward. If you break a GT frame and there is no more inventory of replacements it will likely be replaced with the most similar Cannondale option.
That Sensor Pro LE rides really well.
Thanks all, I have two other irons in the fire I'm investigating but am very interested in that GT!
Anyone have a decent dropper post lever they want to get rid of? Something decent, the one that came with a used BikeYoke I bought is garbage. I could also trade for a pair of new TrailOne Hells Gate grips.
Google for the ZTTO dropper remote. Prices vary. It's an exact copy of the wolf tooth remote. I have it on two bikes.

That's pretty lame to buy rip-off components that Wolf tooth worked on.
I bought mine off Amazon when I needed some functional remotes, and they were returnable if they sucked. I figured out later they were copies.
My son has his medium GT Force Carbon Pro for sale for cheep if anyone is looking for one...
I’ve got two or three dropper levers in the parts bin. Can dig them out tonight and send pics.Quote:

The thing I like about the Wolftooth style (lever) is that you can run it in either orientation. </p>
not yet, but this is interesting.....

also up on jenson , but not a single release yet...
as a die hard chamber 2 fan boy, i'm scared but excited. ok back into the snow i go.
I was a diehard Chamber2 guy as well but got sick of laces and they're heavy as F, soak up water like a sponge and take FOREVER to dry.Fox Union is my new shoe but they fit A LOT wider and I do have a skinny Giro foot. I make them work with a skinny insole shim in one of them. If you have a slightly wider foot, they're stiffer, lighter, dry WAY faster/don't absorb water. They have a longer/more rearward slot for your cleats, and the dual BOA works well.
New bike day
Couldn’t get a Cube Hyde Pro in North America but I got a decent price on this Spot Acme which scratches my belt drive townie itch and will pull (and STOP) a kiddie trailer.

Pretty sweet ride. Need to find better pedals, maybe a wider/taller bar, and different tires.
I hadn’t even realized it comes with a dynamo front hub…guess I have to source some LEDs!

Maybe with the dyno you can run a ground effects package. For the night rides.
Accumulated some bits and pieces for my sentinel from various winter sales and deals. Love the sentinel in stock form, but a couple big trips / races this summer had me wanting something bigger, but still very pedal-able. Debated bumping up to a Spire, but decided to embiggen the sentinel instead.
- Hayes Dominion A4's, courtesy of Andeh (thanks again!)
- bumped the dropper up to 210mm. One Up v3.
- Cascade link. Bumps travel to 165mm.
- Fox Float X2. This was a warranty replacement from an older X2 I had lying around. I didn't really like the tune on it paired with the stock sentinel linkage, but it feels great with the cascade link.
- Fox 38 X2, 170mm. Bumped the travel up from stock to better match the rear. The 38 was my favorite fork previously, and the new damper is phenomenal. I'm a fan.
- fresh rubber. Max grip assegai up front, t7/t9 eliminator in back.
Overall, I'm looking the changes. The longer fork definitely raised the front end a bit and slacked it out. It feels a bit silly on flatter trails, but it's great on steep stuff, which is mostly what I was after.

So you've got an extra dropper? I'm looking for some more length (huh huh). 30.9.
