snowing this morning ....3 or so at my place overnight. Storm still looks like another good round of snow tonight and tomorrow. However the winds aren't as favorable so I doubt another huge amount for zone 10. 6-8 is a good bet.

Montana, Karpiel, and MCHC, thanks to each of you for taking one for the team and having to travel. Those of us that get to enjoy will make a few turns (or straight lines) for ya'. And then pour a little on the curb for the next storm.
From NWS:
A MAJOR WINTER STORM WILL AFFECT THE REGION STARTING THURSDAY MORNING AND LASTING INTO THURSDAY NIGHT. TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS WILL RANGE BETWEEN 4 AND 12 INCHES IN THE LOWER VALLEYS... AND 1 TO 2 FEET OVER THE SOUTHWEST AND CENTRAL MOUNTAINS.
Mmmmmm, 1-2', that's what I like to hear...
I'm flying out of DIA tomorrow at 3pm for a long weekend. Where the fuck are my snow-covered emo tears and naked mermaids??
Another strong system with snow and very cold air is scheduled to arrive Sunday afternoon.
I heart an active weather pattern....suck it spring!
And not only that but I get to spend 4 fucking days in the rain!
FML
Oh well ... hoping this storm cycle adds another couple weeks to the summer snowpack.
we'll take all the snow we can get...that dust layer looks pretty pronounced.
SICK!
I'll have a blue jacket with an "I love Goatse.cx" patch, brown hat, jeans, and maybe some protection for the feet against dirty airport floors. Look for the backwards goggles steeze cuz I'm so RAD like that.
Anyway, enjoy our snow. Hope you make it without much delay.
Snowing lightly in the Ville. Havn't seen the Sawatch all day. So glad to experience winter again!!!!
Looks like good potential for continued moist air in the next week. Lots of water vapor getting pumped from the Pacific towards the PNW and BC. Now just keep up this NW flow!!!!!
8-15 inches for the metro area.
Bernardo, you can always crash here bro....
upslope.....front rangers beware. Anybody heading up here from Denver better get here early, the metro is gonna be a mess.
As for best places...it should all be good the next couple of days.
point forecast for 11k on Vail Mountain says 15-30"...that seems high to me but still impressive.
So where do you guys get your weather info? I chase severe weather/hail damage so I'd love to learn more about snow forecasts. You guys seem pretty educated on it.

Wind loading at basin was huge on the East facing slopes, maybe 12-16 deep in places. Mostly had 5-8 all over up top.
Considerable cracking on top of the old hard base. Did not see if there was a dust layer as the snow was blowing sideways. Unfortunately my pic of that did not save, but this pic was from a lunch break at the base when the sun came out for a very short time. No lines, plenty of fresh left for tomorrow in case they don't get anything new tonight. (as if)
I wonder how long it will take the metro area to fall into complete chaos once it starts snowing.....an entire winter of 70 degrees hasn't prepared them well for this event.
CAIC not as impressed with this event for our zone. With the speed of the system and the switch of the winds, I am leaning for the same...still think 6-8 is about all Vail will get.
^^^agreed, too much load would put most things on hold for a bit.
Got the day off Friday, but the drive is going to be...interesting. And early.
