Picking this 1980 Suzuki GS1000E up after work tonight:

One of the original muscle bikes, and this one's in great condition. So stoked. :D
That's not a V-Twin, it's inline. Rotax engine?Quote:

Yep, already signed up for the two-Saturday MSF class for 8-5 and 8-12. I already took and passed the written portion of the DMV test, so I have a motorcycle permit. Next step is to take and pass the MSF class for the full motorcycle endorsement.Quote:

Damn, I went to the class with nothing besides my helmet, gloves, long pants and a long sleeve tee. Sounds like you are already ahead of the ball. It is fun, just pay attention. What you learn will help you stay alive.Quote:

Get a few horsepower under your belt and then we'll talk.Quote:

Thanks for the feedback guys. I've managed to put almost 5000 miles on my 2004 Yamaha Vino 125cc scooter over the last two years. It's taught me a lot about street riding, especially the part about how to not get dead.
Time for a horsepower upgrade from 12 hp on the scoot to about 95 on the bike. Picking up the new bike at 7 PM and taking it for a ride up Suncrest.

not my bike, but I am thinking about getting one instead of paying for gas in the WRX on my commute. My buddy from college makes custom bikes out in Connecticut, and does some really cool stuff. His girlfriend does amazing leatherwork and other artwork out of some pretty crazy materials....
check out the website if you want to see more details....

You would hate commuting on that vibrating hardtail. Yeah, they're nice to look at, but you don't want to put any time in the saddle on customs like that....
There's a very good reason why modern bikes are sprung and have good seats and brakes. You wouldn't want to ride one of these on a singletrack (or to work every day) either for the same reason:

I used to drive motorcycles around a good bit, even a Harley Sportster. That was before I had an ounce of sense though. ;)Quote:

One beef with scooter riders: The obligatory motorcycle "wave", the quick left hand just off the bars to say "hey".
People on scooters do NOT do this wave and I have a hard time waving to a scooter. They don't get it and look at you funny. I have enough people looking at me funny, dammit!
Imo it's a false economy. You go through back tires every 5k miles and bikes just require a lot of maintenance in general: chains, valve adjustments, tune-ups.Quote:

153 miles door to door. It most totally ruled. Getting the bike's handling and torque/horsepower all dialed in tight like. Toit like a toiger.
Today's riding after work was up to Alta and back down, then up to Brighton, up and down Guardsman's Pass, then back down BCC to the city. The BCC S-turn just rules on a bike.
So uh, yeah. Motorcycles are fun. :)
Heh. When I was riding the scoot, almost no motorcycle riders would wave. So I think the scooter riders are in shock that you're actually waving to them from the V-Star, and they don't know how to respond. :DQuote:

Honda - that's cool. Does it come in pink? I just made a deal for a pink sled and I need everything to match. :DQuote:

I'm diggin' this one.

So I have a story to tell and it may hit home to some of you motorcyclists:
Over the last couple of weeks, I have been working on trading in my Jeep Wrangler
http://www.bomberonline.com/VBulleti...tid=4373&stc=1
on a new motorcycle. A Triumph Bonneville. Beautiful.
http://www.branchville.com/images/Ne...4443_1_400.jpg
So after 3 trips to the dealership (about 45 minutes driving each way), several hours of negotiation and shopping for accessories, and dealing with car/bike salesmen (not my favorite people in the world, but this one wasn't too bad), I had agreed to a deal.
Financing approved, Accessories Picked, Bike Prepped, ready to go.
Yeah, Right...
So I arrive there about an hour before they said the bike would be ready, figuring paperwork, license plates, etc. would take that long...
Anyway, we get everything ready, signed, etc and I'm putting on my new gear to ride and they tell me there's a problem. They want a bigger down payment and are increasing my finance rate.
I promptly say "Fuck You" and leave. No Deal.
So now I'm sitting here with no pretty new bike, a Jeep I don't really want, and a feeling that I'm not sure if I was being screwed or if these guys were just dumb. They claimed it was a simple screwup and I'm usually inclined to believe people.
Crappy Fucking day. At least I didn't have to ride home in the torrential rain hitting Connecticut as we speak.
Oh well... Anyone want to buy a Jeep?
Fuck em. They try to pull that shit on a lot of people, and a large amount of them probably fall for it. Fucking scumbags.Quote:

As I said in a post some pages back I recently got my motorcycle license after going through the MSF course and now it's time to buy a cycle. I couldn't decide whether I wanted new or used or what type. My choices were cruiser, sport touring, or standard. After switching my mind for the 1000th time I finally figured that price and size are my biggest factors so I bought a 2004 Suzuki GZ250. This little guy fit the bill on both counts. It's definitely a beginner's bike and seeing as how I'm a beginner that's ok. The biggest plus was the price. I didn't have to take a loan or drain my savings.
Here it is and of coarse my dog has to be in the picture. Damn she's a photo slut.

just took a moto safety course, finally got legally licensed, insured my bike, and resurrected it from the dead last night (it'd been sitting in outside storage for over a year). Forgot how much FUN it is to ride!!!
now it needs a whole lot of work to restore it, the elements were hard on it. I have my work cut out for me.

I decided to take a first-time motorcycle ride on the Mirror Lake Scenic Byway yesterday from Kamas, UT to Evanston, WY. The views were outstanding and I can't think of a better way to see them than on a motorcycle.
