I’ve enjoyed these, (and more), since I was a kid.
These are the stories that literally shaped my very being.

In fact, as I look over this menagerie of memories, I see my childhood hands stacking these, in special order, in the automatic cabinet turntable,
and just now am realizing the direct effect these particular stories have had on many major life decisions I have made over the decades!

I can literally hear Rip Van Winkle lamenting his lost life now…

OK so I inherited a turntable and al of my father in laws vinyl when they moved into a new house.

I had been trying for over a year to get the damn thing working with my amp and speakers to no avail.

Its audio out cable comes from deep inside it and it still has a forked wire ground...
So finally got it spinning and connected, but it sounds like shit. When I had gotten it hooked up I had ordered Jason Isbell's Weather Vanes and that was the first vinyl I purchased in years. https://jasonisbell.bandcamp.com/album/weathervanes it spun and came through but sounded lousy.

A few months ago Someone mentioned they had found a cheap turn table online and I looked and sure enough there was a belt drive audio tecnics for $100. I was sold. Got it home and hooked it up right before thanksgiving.

SO my father in law has some gems. I had seen Sgt Peppers and Disraeli Gears in the crate when I first brought them home but there is more.

Right at the end of November after everyone was in bed I put this on and OMG Attachment 508127

Found out there is a groovy record store in the next town over. So fun to visit record stores again.
So as my first purchase now that I have a system that works.

The Tubes were my first or second concert ever (they opened for The Starship at the Napa Town and Country Fair; I also saw The Beach Boys around that time, but can’t recall whom I saw first).

Anyway, I saw The Tubes when they were touring The Completion Backwards Principle, which was kind of when they started slipping into more accessible synth pop (at least in terms of their sound; their lyrics were always on the avante garde side of things).

Of this album, I was only familiar with the radio “hits” “White Punks On Don’t” and “What Do You Want From Life?”.

Man, the whole album is a brilliant art rock pastiche!

Upgraded the vinyl setup. Snagged a used pro-ject debut carbon Evo with an ortofon super om20 cartridge and stylus. Grabbed a cork mat at Randy's today and a few albums to add to the collection. Jimmy Smith root down is playing right now. Started the afternoon sesh off with some les McCann, and Herbie Hancock is up next.

Nice, that player is what I have. Im tempted to upgrade the cartdrige for no good reason and the reviews say you got a nice one. Never heard of Les Mcann, checking him out now.

This morning i started the day listening to the Riverside mono reisuue of mulligan meets monk. I feel pretentious writing that. Im listening to a lot of Diamond Jubilee recently which is 3 fackin records long. Dookey you have that one? All three barely fit in its thin sleeve, ha, such a low budget release. Dookey you may have recommended Cindy here but I dont think so? Not sure where I heard it first.

Dude at the record store was pumped that I grabbed the Les McCann and recommended another Les McCann album that I listened to driving around today. Swiss movement. Only got a few songs in, but it's clear I need to explore Les McCann's library a bit more. Good stuff.

I do not have Diamond Jubilee.
I learned about Cindy Lee here on the forum, but beyond a cursory listen haven’t really delved into it.
I liked what I heard and was bummed that by the time I was turned onto it CL had already done a show in Oakland and then announced no more touring. Bummer.

And then, I have had this for ages on CD, and when the lady putting albums on the shelf placed it right in front of me as I perused the Tom Petty selections, I knew I wanted a nice vinyl record copy. This album still makes the hair on my arms stand up when I really turn the volume up and focus on it.
