The leaves are down and the light is fading. Great time to ride!https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...6caa578fdb.jpg

Thx to all for the beta on slate valley last weekend.
I rode the fairgrounds loops. Climbed cliffhanger, climbed mid-way, descended midway, loop d loop, and free fall twice. Freefall was the most fun with a couple steeper descents that could be very fast sans leaf cover. Cliffhanger was an enjoyable climb.
I wasted TONS of time trying to figure out where the hell I was most of the time. I rode about halfway to the other trailhead and then realized time was running out to be home in time for kiddos soccer practice.
Next time I'll start at the other trailhead with hopes of finding more fun terrain: jumps, jumps. Drops, berms, and tech.
The scenery was beautiful :)

The moist slate made for fun slippery climbing.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...4e1a572016.jpg
The signage helped my endorphin riddled short term memory. Check out the rock arrow! This place has had a lot of effort out into the build. Fairgrounds parking area had free wifi. Pretty sweet.

Sooo many leaves left me looking for the trail and taking mental notes of which direction I had arrived from at each intersection.

Rode Killington today. All the leaves have pretty much fallen. Stark contrast and evidence of the turn. Sick time. Next weekend is the end of the season. Come rip!
I got rid of my full size pick up this past weekend so if anyone wants a large Race Face tailgate pad, come pick it up. It's a few years old but still works just fine. Should fit any full size truck, Located in Barre-Montpelier area.

Revisited SVT yesterday. This time I rode from the Endless Loop trailhead.
Pretty waterfall behind well built bridge only a mile or so up the trail.

Lookout from the top.

Hardy Hill proved a chill climb to access the goods. Rocky Ridge was an even better climb with enough tech to keep it interesting. Hunker Down, one way downhill, was super fun with multiple small jumps, Armored berms, natural roll ins, and some hip jumps including a cool natural Boulder hip. Rode hunker a couple times. Without leaf cover hunker b would get very very very fun and fast, all jumps would go to flat.
Don't end up in there on your drive home.

Any love for Mt Peg here?
Rode Cloud 9, Sir Bermsalot, Hardstyle, Redline, Schist Creek, Chutes and Ladder, Trap Line and Ridge Run. Good handbuilt steep flow, tech in places, some huge double I think I would have to session to be able to get. I think it maybe the best up to go down riding in Vermont right now. Easily my favorite place after my local now.
Here is a clip of parts of Trap Line and Ridge run. Ridge run has this crazy section that when I made the video after riding I though this is like 30 percent, according the trailforks its 40-49 percent. Its impressive and berms kind of work but I was riding blind and so was my follow guy. Also the enduro was just here and it was much looser than you would think.

Those turns/berms look way too tight. You can hear that you had to brake through them as they are not laid out with a wide enough arc to be able to keep momentum through them.
Its literally a 40-49 percent pitch. Not sure who wouldnt brake there....... Like it was steeper than anything at Cochran or Perry hill. Those berms are actually tons of fun but I was riding blind, and the person behind me was riding blind on a much steeper bike. If they were more open I feel like the trail would just be harder to ride.
This. Accept no other

My local, Cady Falls nursery. IMO the capital of Loam in Vermont. Why we keep leaf blowing trails and riding on hardpack all summer is beyond me.
Who wants hardpack over loam?

If any ever wants a tour, PM me. its impossible to navigate with trailfork there but there some real gems there especially if you like flowly natural trail that have some tech.

I'm going for a new Strava category: SKT. And if that already exists, then Clydesdale SKT.
Gobble Gobble y'all.
Got some riding in down in Florida at the in-laws. Not often that the climbing total for a ride is 42 ft !

PSA - Cycles etc in NH is doing a 30% off all bikes thru Saturday. That is a pretty sweet deal. I'd say it's barely above their cost at that level?
https://www.cyclesetc.com/catalog/bikes-1402/
Nope. Not a one.
If anyone in the VT/NH region is looking for a Saris H3, I just found I can’t use the one I bought with a gabaruk cassette (I have sram and hh driver…neither one works. I am lookong to recoup cost, new, never ridden and hopefully I could deliver. Asking $450, and you can register it and get the free month of Zwift.

The skiing may currently suck, but trails in N-Central VT are riding great right now. Frozen, leafy velcro.
The right side up storm let's us still ride dirt on the coast. Even 5 miles west is on a mix of snow and dirt today.
Our smoke spothttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...ddc6336ec7.jpg
SNH is rolling good these days.
Can any rutland area mags confirm that it’s dirt at PHP? Their socials seem to indicate so. Skiing is meh right now and figured I’d bring the bike out wherever riding was still game on
I can confirm Saxon in NVT is dirt/frozen. PHP isially drains quicker and looks like cold temps are back for the next week so any wet spots should freeze.

Same for trails around Millstone. No icy spots to speak of, jus grippy frozen dirt. Gonna be good until the next rain storm.
I have an unplanned day off tomorrow and was considering riding somewhere <2 hours from Portland. Facebook would be the obvious place to check but, since I don't have it, I figured I'd ask you all. Anyone know of anything? Carrabassett is just a bit too far. Thinking Prkr, NoCo, Bethel maybe (?).
The last storm left everything around us soaking wet. It'll freeze solid tonight but require a good groom before it is good to go.
Thanks in advance
Franklin Falls has gotten most of the network groomed. Same story with the snow here in Central NH, wicked wet but should set up well in the cold.
Much appreciated. Hit everything that was open. Bee was not groomed but had seen enough traffic to make it rideable. I couldn’t find a way to get to the northernmost section (Lost Wall, etc). Still, a nice way to change it up.
Several locals are talking about York Hill Farm in New Sharon. Might be a tomorrow plan if the weather holds.
Thanks again!

Any word on trail conditions in Southern Nh, seacoast area? Headed to Hampton in 2 weeks and wondering if I should bring mtb or gravel bike.
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Mixed bag. Immediate coast dry and ice free. Exeter/Fort Rock still icy in spots and wet in spots. Still Feb so anything can happen over the next two weeks. When r you here? I'm California bound the last week into March, but if I'm here I'd try to meet up for a ride.
I will be there sometime between the 26th and 7th…so I’ll prolly miss you. I know better next week.

Yeah, unfortunately, we're going to miss each other.
Countdown to tires on dirt, since this winter is just. so. disappointing. Anyone wanna split an AirB&B im Brevard for April vacation?

VT’ers, I am running for a VMBA Board seat (Biggins status). Voting starts today and is open through 3/20. Appreciate your support if you’re a VMBA member. PM any questions you may have to determine whether I am worthy of your vote.
Thanks,
Dave Dore
Does anyone know what conditions are like in the Northhampton MA / Saw Mill area right now? Snow or dirt or mix? Is it even rideable? -Thanks
