What about filling off the plastic on the inside of the brake? It looks like that would work, or am I missing something?

so I had a set of blank toes with no numbers and then I had a set that were U43 or U34 or something like that. They wanted to blank ones back and then told me the other ones they weren’t worried about but also replaced them.
from what they said at marker, there was a release of some early toes that had the problem, and more of them went out west to bigger shops then stayed east. They caught it, changed some
stuff and haven’t had a problem since.
125 it is for the BGhttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...18d1646971.jpg
Not having any luck sorting this out with my local shop, sounds like the local rep is annoyed that I'm even asking about it. He was also suspicious, asking the local shop why someone would "have three pair of Dukes", as if having several pair of their bindings in your quiver is something nefarious. Not exactly the response I expected from the Marker rep.
I brought three pair of new tech toes (with receipts) in to my local shop for replacement (all toe wings are blank); one pair purchased from this shop, one from Amazon, and one from a US online retailer. Local shop says it doesn't matter than none of my tech toe wings are engraved, and that Marker replaced their inventory with corrected toes (even though they don't have any engraving). Given the timeline, I suspect I may have bought my pair before the replacement event occurred... Also, I put all three pair in the same box, so there's no way to know which pair came from which seller. The shop suggested I contact the Amazon seller and the second shop and have them check the dates of their shipments from Marker, but you know how those calls will go: "please contact your local authorized Marker dealer for warranty assistance." Yay, awesome.
So back to square one, will have to "bench test" each toe. Not a fan of equipment abuse, but I'll have to mount the toes and vigorously work the levers, and see what happens. Better now than five miles from the car.
Anyone know if the defective levers break when you pull up the lever, or when you push it down?
FYI. I ordered 2 pairs of the Duke PT 16s from Corbett's during the Boxing Week sale. A 125mm (for 122mm Renegades) and a 100mm (for ?) and both have the asterisk on them.
Sold my Shifts and considered CAST. Talked to a few people with them at Whistler and seems good. Gonna give these a try for 80/20, inbounds/sidecountry.

5 days on my 16s. 3 in the resort and 2 touring. Great so far.
Was the only one in my group to not having icing problems or brakes releasing on my tours (the only one not on Shifts).
Spoke with Marker directly and they're hooking me up. Apparently the "bad lever batch" was one of the production runs with a code on the wing but no asterisk. They said they pulled back most of those from shops before they were sold, so there shouldn't be very many left out in the wild.
Thanks. Did you have any toes that have no marks at all? Are you getting those replaced?

Marker will replace any toe that is either unmarked or marked but without the asterix.
Great, thank you Jon and others

Anybody attempt binding inserts with these yet to share between multiple skis? Given how precise/difficult that can be with Cast that might be another advantage if they mount more like a traditional alpine binding (which it seems like they would)?
My first pair of Duke PT 16s on some Renegades….no QK/inserts…just regular alpine mount.

I already had the STH2 QK’d on some skis, but got the PTs and wanted to use them on both skis. Instead of plugging the STH2 QK holes, I just left them and am keeping the STH2 in the closet for now.
The PT16s seem pretty bomber, but who knows with all those extra moving pieces? Keeping the STH2 holes just for some peace of mind in case anything happens to my PTs. I also might just get lazy and keep the STH2 on one ski and PTs on the other and avoid the 10 minute change.
There is some (not much) method to the madness.

I really want to buy a pair of these to throw on some OG renegades. But my mind simply can’t comprehend skiing a marker, haven’t been in a pair since twin cam toes. Someone please convince me other wise. I ski pivots and tyrolia/head bindings. I hate the 1 pair of sth2 bindings I have, heels set +2 to prevent pre release. Does it truly function like CAST, ie; feels exactly like an alpine binding? Durability concerns mainly as regards toe piece? Can I ski it with a CAST tech toe boot conversion?

I have a few inbounds days on Duke PT 16s. It feels like an alpine binding. In downhill mode the toe piece seems burly enough. No issues. I don’t kick the shit out but I can scrape snow off the boot sole way more than I ever would want to with Shifts.
My two pairs of Duke 16 PTs are mounted on rockered 4FRNT Ravens and Renegades….both skis that I want to do some short tours on, but also rip inbounds on.
I’m really happy with these so far. Prefer them to my Shifts. I considered CAST (actually bought the CAST) but got sketched by stories of f’d up mounts. So sold the CAST without mounting. And Corbetts had the Duke PTs for $619CDN at New Years….cheaper than cast + pivots.
Blue looks good on 4FRNT Ravens:

The aluminum bar on the top of the toe is meant to be a boot snow scraper, works really well.
I’m skiing the sh*t out of my PT 16s….zero issues thrashing them inbounds on ice and crap snow on my 4FRNT Ravens. Can’t even tell this is a touring binding when skiing inbounds.
No intel on the 12s…but I would think they would be also fine if you were touring more, and raging less, for lightness.
I haven’t had a problem with my 16s either. I ski them a ton and another buddy has them on a daily driver Atris and loves them too.
. The 16s have a jester based heel. The 12 is like a Griffon/squire cross bred heel. Haven’t heard of any issues though since they got the toe pieces worked out.
The 16 is quite a bit heavier than the 12, but the Squire heel on the 12 has a lower dildo pivot (to lower the DIN range) so not as much vertical elasticity, especially with an AT boot that has a taller heel lug than an alpine boot.
For best of both worlds, on my PT12's I swapped heels with my 2021 Griffons (which have the new easier-entry heel). The Griffons mostly see use with alpine boots, so the Squire heel is fine. The PT12's get used with ZeroG boots, so the Griffon heel clamps down on the lug a lot more solidly than the Squire heel did.
Marker should have offered a PT13 with the Griffon heel instead of the PT12 with Squire heel, but they were competing with the Shift on weight. Can't blame them for that, makes sense from a marketing perspective.
Just had my first day on PT12s mounted to Line Vision 98s. Wanted to ski the skis/bindings at least one day at the resort before going into the backcountry. They felt just like downhill bindings. Even hit some medium size jumps on the park with the kids. Didn’t go uphill today but did fiddle with the bindings after they had been skied and had snow/ice on them and they transformed as advertised. I have an older pair of griffons on one set of skis and I was shocked how much easier the heel is to step into on these new bindings.
Also, wanted to mention that the shop that mounted them did inserts on these skis and another ski and said they were just as easy as any other alpine binding to do inserts with.

Are these one sale due to updates for next season?

Anyone have experience with these and P15s (18s)? R u running similar DINs? I run 11 on my P15s and am thinking about the PT 12 on a VWerks Katana as a dedicated slack country ski to save some weight. Just wanna make sure I wont need to crank these up. Thanks.
Edit to add, Shift is the backup plan; ran it for two years and didn't hate it, other than the subjective plastic feel and stepping on the odd brake. Running CAST currently. I ran a Griffon a few years ago, so think I should be good with the Squire/Griffon hybrid heel for my backcountry needs, but real world input is always appreciated.
the Dins run true and you should be fine with 11. You know that a cast setup is actually lighter by like 50 grams then the duke pt 12 set up correct?
I still don’t like the heel of the 12 and the 16 is way more stout and is the one I ski, my other half skis a 12 on a 5 din. She hasn’t had a problem with them though.
I would put a m-werks kingpin on that katana v werks and ski the shit out of it.
we don’t mention shift in this thread btw. You can’t spell shift with out shit.
Beauty, thanks for this SoVT Joey. Yah, starting to think this is a terrible plan. Was thinking about standing on top of Gonorrhea or Syphilis or any other scary (to me) first turn, in a Squire heel...Yah, maybe not. Only way this makes sense is if I keep my CMD 108/CAST setup, and use the VWerks for mellower/further stuff. But then I'll never grab the VWerks, and then I may as well go with a Kingpin M-Werks, or something lighter (Ill research these further, thanks).
Re PT 12 weight, was more looking at the 'up' weight with the alpine toe in my bag (850g stated) vs a Shift (886?). Maybe I just eat the weight savings, go with CAST or a PT 16, use it to get in shape, and enjoy those first turns. God damn science. Thanks for talking me off the ledge! Time to eat a gummy, pour another coffee, and overanalyze this for a few more hours (read: weeks).
uphill is closer to 890 anyway. Marker lied. Who would of thought another ski company lying about a weight. Surprise surprise.
I quiver killed a nocta for a duke pt 16 and a kingpin. It’s pretty nice. But the weight difference is big. I double ejected out of my kingpins this year, it put a lot more trust in them for me. It was definitely a situation where I thought they should come off and they did, after that I felt a lot more comfortable skiing on them, but I still prefer the duke pt when I’m about to do something really dumb.
PT heels, brakes, and heel tracks are interchangeable with Royal family heels, brakes, and tracks. Only difference is PT track is longer and allows a lot more adjustment.
Quick brake question on the Duke PTs.... mounting up a pr of Black Crow Atris' and they are 108 underfoot. QWhich brake should I go for? go 100s or 125s? Wish they had an option in between..... Leaning towards the 125s as I never had much luck with bending the brakes and let alone having the skis clamp together w/ bent brakes
