^ Sick, man!
it's coun·ter·in·tu·i·tive
Lotsa boats came out of the water for our lil Nor'Easter. Saw this beauty today on the Cape.
That's 4 350 outboards , pretty sick
Attachment 253281
Yeah, but the CC and getting huge. The outboards are replacing inboards. What they can do by vectoring the motors which joy stick steering is amazing. If you want to run out to the Bahamas for the day and sleep in your own bed, it is the way to go. Ultimately it is just a dick swinging contest that makes little sense so what is the difference?
That's a cool boat. I will be on that red Nortech that I posted a pic of over Thanksgiving week. 3 400s. Top speed 80+ mph. I love center console boats. They are very versatile. Deep sea fishing, speed and comfort. I'm stoked and hopefully will catch 4 or 5 sails, a couple of roosters, dorado and ahi.
My all-time favorite boat I've ever seen was a DCB M-35s on Lake Chelan, WA. Holy fucking shit, it was bright orange, ran twin 1350's, had a top speed of 176 mph and sounded like nothing you've ever heard before. We could hear the guy doing hot laps a couple miles down the lake from us throughout the summer, it sounded like he was running a turbine. Back in the 2013 poker run he blew by the lunch crowd in Lucern at a reportedly 170 mph and almost didn't make the turn a 1/2 mile away to miss the bank. It has since sold, back to Havasu from where it came. Here are a couple shots I took of it and a video of the return pass at Lucern (not my vid, incorrectly identifies it as a M-38)

Although if you wakesurf and have a spare $300K+ you might think about a Pavati AL26

My boat makes a better looking surf wake than that one does for like 20% of the price
My little bro's wake boat: Super Air Nautique, Lake Carrie, FL.

Those G’s are nice
I miss my Nautique. I grew up with the Meloon family that founded Correct Craft. Nobody would even consider any other brand, where I lived.
Ken’s boat.

It's amazing how common the 4 350s are becoming. At that point, just run trips seven marine 627s. Clearly money isn't a limiting factor.
If you want to go fast in style , grab this 90' Jarret Bay. Since 2017 delivery, they have added a foil for a few more mphs and will be ripping the diesels out as soon as someone produces larger engines twin (3,300?). It was designed for hypothtitcal big boys cause twin 2,600hp isn't enough. Dream is 60knots.
I get to drool over it everytime I fuel up. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...b3deda06d4.jpg

Someone is blowing smoke up your ass.
100-125 maybe.
The world speed kilo record is 175.865
https://www.apba.org/node/5803
^^^ Ya gotta admit that this is pretty cool:
It looks like he enters the trap at about 14 seconds. At 175mph it would take seconds 13 seconds to cover a kilo.
He passes the camera at about 100mph
I ran one of the scanners at Devils Lake Kilos for over 15 years. I scanned a Grand National Hydro in 1991 doing 155mph.

...and I think you're inhaling that smoke :fmicon:
I've met and talked to the owner of that boat personally as well as had a buddy ride along and video at 160. If you're getting a boat in the $500-$700K range you're probably hoping the speedometer isn't off by 50-70 mph. That APBA record is 'official' but I also think that there are boats out there that can exceed that number but haven't done so on a professional course.

Going over 125 mph in an open cockpit boat, on open to the public water...one must have a death wish...
Going over 150, shit happens quick, and people die with an open cockpit
Hitting a top speed is easy, that's why an official speed record it done in a flying kilo or mile. The speed must be maintained over the entire course. That's where the difficulty is.

I completely agree. Plus on Lake Chelan you have huge amounts of driftwood, stuff in the 20'-40' range. At that speed you'd barely have a chance to react. They scope the run via helicopters before starting the racers meeting but it blows my mind that they can do a poker run there: anywhere from 40-60 boats straight hauling ass on an open body of water that varies from 2 miles to less than a 1/4 wide.
This was an accident in pretty much the same boat from this spring down in Havasu: https://speedonthewater.com/in-the-n...-lickity-split

44 knots in a down east. One of you old farts needs to step up and buy this. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...56b81e0ebb.jpg

^^the pot hauler's a nice touch, and I bet it's still in good shape. Any idea what they're looking for on that rig? Just curious.
It seems odd to go the giant single engine route.
Well Downeasts are pretty much always single diesels, but really the question is why do you need to go 44 kts in a Downeast? The hulls really aren't optimal fort that kind of speed, it's gonna be a handful at anywhere near top speed. A sporty with a deeper vee and twins is what I'd want if I wanted to go that fast.
I bet the guy has all of that $650K in it and and maybe more and I'm sure he picked the power but not many people would when you could go with half that hp and weight and cruise all day at 22 kts and burn half the fuel. Plus there's nothing wrong with the finish but it's not a plus, somebody who wanted it for a yacht would be looking at spending a lot of money in upgrades. The boat's kind of a one-off, cool in its way but not something many people would want. imo.
edit: I don't mean to sound like I don't think it's a cool boat, I do. I was just more talking about the price and marketability, for whatever reason that's what I started thinking about.
I cant fathom spending that much money to be sitting in an uncomfortable enclosed room the whole time your on the water. I'll take a 10'x14' top with a good windshield but that's far too enclosed for me.

Apparently Freeman wasn't too happy about the outcome of this pilot house but how do you say no to a legend. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...89a5c292da.jpg
