wife said catherines was crowded and thin
and powderpond can skin uphill with one arm strapped to his side faster than 99% of the wasatch
im buying skate skis for xmass
Someone said "skate skis". Hmmm, wonder if that would have helped yesterday. Something 1/2 ice skate, 1/2 ski for the current Wasatch conditions, brilliant! :)
Rax?

I'm headed back to Dixie on Thursday. Looks like ULLR will deliver , y'all are welcome
Lol deliver....we're lucky to see the high end...that's 12". Skied off groomers by 3rd run and off piste will be a rock hunt around most of Alta. We need a lot of fugging snow.

took a few laps this morning off eagle which were fun, then took a walk into honeycomb just to see for when it really snows. eeked out a few careful turns on lower woodlawn, but more of a long walk than anything. always good to be outside and hope it keeps coming.

Got a few laps in this AM at Alta. It was better than I thought , wish I could have stayed all day but had a plane to catch. Thankful for the conditions , it wasn’t all time but it was still relatively good
Guys look, yell at me all you want, but you have to accept that this is part of the norm across Western N.A. now.
Every area is going to experience wild variation in seasons. Colorado this year, NW/B.C. the next. We're all going to have to adapt.
If you want pow all season long, you're going to have to hunt for it. That means travel is inevitable.
Today I went to the resort with the best snow conditions .....

New this year they have apres ski. I hope it doesn't change the vibe.

happy solstice pagens
So we didn’t cancel and made the best of our week. Hit solisunday and was treated to some fast groomers, which my boys liked. Watched some panthers beat the packers and all was good. Monday was surprisingly fun at Alta using our wasatch pass benefit. Again lapped groomers all day and kids were pumped. Tuesday morning Brighton was not too hot. Was actually congested for the amount of runs open. Oh well. Headed back down to solitude for a great afternoon of hitting “jumps”off moonbeam. Boys have the go pro footage to prove it. Wednesday had a cream puff day of deer valley. Again just lapped groomers and watched the snow fall as we packed up. Met the dog and the montage and apres fondue.
While not a local, the was the 6th trip in 11 months for the family and it was totally proof that a bad day of skiing is better then a good day of work.
Thanks for all the intel prior to coming out about bailing or not. Basically, have our solitude family pass paid for already so I’m int the money for the rest of the season.
My wife and I lived in NC as well and had season passes to Alta for 2 seasons. We decided a couple years ago to pack our bags and move to Utah. Best decision ever, haven't looked back once.
I landed back in SLC from a business trip tonight and watched all the giddy tourists schlepping their gear over to the rental car counter. I hope I never take for granted this place. Even when the tide is low.

Nice, reminds me of when my dad would fly me out from the ATL to experience the grandeur of the Wastach. The South Will Rise Again!
They told us when we moved here that people come for the winter and stay fit the summer. It’s pretty spot on. I’ve never lived anywhere with the amazing grandeur so close and diverse.

come for the wasatch, stay for moab and the la sals... and the uintas... and the insane trail running 5 mins from your house... and so on
Agree. The variety of outdoor activities in the warm months is far more diverse. Hiking, camping, backpacking, mtn biking, climbing, on and on. Sure the winters are fun, but Utah kicks ass when it's warm.

Unfortunately I am making the move back east in 2018. It's been a great run and I will continue to buy season passes.

Come for the winters, bail to the desert when the winter takes a sabattical. If the current models hold up I'll be tuning up the bikes soon.
PSA: As I am officially out for most if not all of this season, it is going to go off in the Wasatch guaranteed. I don't care what the models show, they lie. Get in shape, stockpile days off, get your gear ready to go, it's gonna be ON.
I made some bold statements yesterday, so I went up on of the Cottonwoods to see if things turned around after the last diggety dank dump. Rode the lift with a nice gent from down south, he said he was going to try some cross country skiing. I let him onto the secret resort up the other canyon. Then I bounced for the good, never leave good snow to find good snow they say, I guess the opposite is true too.

Went to the GOODS! Got the wax dialed today, it was a fast session. If any of you beaters want to get your skate on drop me a note, I
'll show you my zone.

Fucking winter is done. I just put blizzaks on the shaggen wagon. Fack it may never snow again...
But I will still be up at Brighton manayana making the most of it!
might hafta buy some nordic gear sfotex that’s looking more fun than what I’ve been doing
but I’m at the airport gone for 9 days so doubtless it will pound... here’s hoping anyway
got a fat bike. If the skiing sucks then that will be fun, and won't have to ride in shape again before Summer.....
Well that did not suck at brighton. Snakecreek liftline was $$$
